Hey! I didn't know you were posting here! Wonderful ficlet. I really love your wood-elves. Wonderfully done! Author Reply: Hey NiRi! Thank you for your kind words - I'm so glad you like my elves. :-) This is one of the ficlets inspired by your Tolkien Tango, btw. Lissa

I really enjoyed this! :) Being a fan of all the Lindarin kindreds. :D So, these are recurrent characters? It will be good to see more of them! Very well written, and hungry for more. Author Reply: Thank you, Redhered! I really glad you enjoyed it and pleased to meet a fellow Wood-elf fan. :-) I do have quite a lot written, but most of it not of a quality to post here yet (I'm rewriting atm), and anyway most of my ficlets are part of a long, Haldir-centered story. Tínen is only a minor character in a couple of these ficlets (although I must admit I've grown rather fond of him ;-)) and the dying elf occurs in several; his choice has long-term consequences for his family.

I know I said this before, but I did so enjoy this very elfy look at those who did not heed the call of the Valar. It is a unique and wonderful look at the Moriquendi and I am glad to see someone exploring this area of Tolkien's world. We know the golden woods emptied after Galadriel and Celeborn left - and one wonders how many went west - and how many east? Lovely writing. Author Reply: Thank you, Nilmandra! I'm so happy about your remark of the 'elfy' look. My dying warrior belongs to the group of Elves who followed their kin westwards from Cuiviénen out of love for them, but who stopped at the Anduin. If these people have lived in Lindórinand, Vale of the Land of the Singers, for that long, I believe they must have become incredibly attached to it. I have used the term 'Tawarwaith' to define a group of these Elves who stuck with 'the old ways' and never allowed themselves to become 'Sindarized'. "In the Greenwood the Silvan Elves remained untroubled,..." I do hope they are still there. :-)

I loved the beginning and ending sentences and about everything else in between. I loved that the healer let the dying Elf out on the veranda... I loved the Elf's rebellion... and I loved both characters. A lovely, very sad, tale... but what else does one expect from Elves... Well-written. Author Reply: Thank you, Agape - great that you liked the story! Also, I'm happy to hear you liked the healer and the warrior; there's a little more planned for both of them.

I read this, and then re-read it twice so I could savor it again. You made every word count here, and evoked a lot of emotion with the words you used! So much sadness, but also a peaceful end, with dignity, for the warrior. The healer did his duty, despite his heartache, and I'm sure the warrior's family will be grateful. Beautiful story! I liked both characters immediately, and would love to read more of your stories! Author Reply: Thank you, Silkleaf! What a wonderful review - I was so happy to learn that you appreciated my little fic, and, particularly, that you liked both characters. Both of them are minor characters, but they do appear elsewhere in my stories. I'm glad to hear you'd like to read more; hopefully I'll have more for you before too long (am 'polishing' - even more important for an ESL writer than for others).

So sad and so beautiful. I was meaning to comment on LJ already, but I was in such a haste before my journey - sorry for the delay. Author Reply: Thank you, Soledad! I'm so glad you like it. Hope you had a nice trip.

I'm so glad to see your first posted story! This story shows so much emotion in so few words. You wrote this very well. It's difficult to believe English isn't your native language. I'll be waiting for your next story! Author Reply: Thank you, Alqua! As to the language issue, you know I couldn't do this if it weren't for you guys. Viv also did a great job betaing.

A good choice, to make what home he can for himself in that glade. May he not regret the choice. Author Reply: Thank you! Yes, I think he will find peace there, near the Nimrodel. However, other elves may feel differently about his choice.

There is a feeling of peace and contentment even if the passing is troubled and painful. I liked the compassionate healer, how he asked for the chosen place and how that seemed to give the poor elf the needed nudge to simply let go. i liked it. Author Reply: Thank you, perelleth! I'm really glad you liked it - this is the first story I've ever published so it's all been very exciting. I'm glad you liked the healer, too; Tínen is a minor character in my stories, but I've grown very fond of him. Lissa
