Pebbles From Arda  by Virtuella 3 Review(s)
Raksha The DemonReviewed Chapter: 5 on 2/24/2010
A masterful interpretation of a meeting that is sadly not written of too often - lovely delineation of the contrasts between the beautiful, unchanging elven maiden and the Dunadan woman marked by the changes of a mortal life. And yet, there's a sense of growing wistfulness and respect and liking in Arwen's perspective.

Very nice!

Author Reply: Thank you! I enjoyed working with the contrasts and parallels in this piece.

Two women, one youthful in appearance but nearly ageless in actuality, the other very young by the count of her companion yet aging; both bound by fate to the same young man. How real this meeting feels!

Author Reply: Thanks, I'm glad you find it convincing!

I saw this when you posted it on the GFIC comm, but couldn't come up with any sort of constructive advice because it's really well done--especially in characterizing the awkwardness and tentativeness of this first meeting. I especially enjoyed the contrasts of youth and age, and how the mysteries of mortality and motherhood have actually made Gilraen older than Arwen. Well done!

Author Reply: Thank you! These days, I see a lot of beauty in older people - probably because I'm getting older myself.
