Healing Time  by Gwynnyd 7 Review(s)

That was powerfully written. After such an ordeal Aragorn would indeed need much healing, mental more than physical I think, and who better than Galadriel to heal him. It fits well with what Tolkien tells us in appendix A.

"He found himself not despairing enough to simply lie and wait for death." This sounds just like Aragorn to me, as does the fact that even in Lothlórien, and in spite of his pain he kept his identity secret.

I would really love to read your version of what happened at Cerin Amroth.

Yikes! I'm in pain just reading this. Poor Aragorn! This is excellent! One feels the elves just secretly watching this poor human from atop their trees..watching his every move!

This kills me. Everytime I read your writings I end up wanting more...never wanting it to end! I hope in your spare time (is there such a thing?) you can continue this. You can't just let this end this way!

Well, er, uh. There is a follow up in the works, but I write so darn slowly that it may be a while before it sees the light of day.

Reading drabble series like yours will cure me of my dislike for drabbles--this was absolutely wonderful! So much emotion packed into each one. You can feel Aragorn's despair in every word, nearly. Very wrenching, especially when he thinks that not even his mother would spare much in the way of tears should he die. In need of succor indeed, and more than just physically. And Galadriel, so wise, knows exactly the balm to heal him. And Haldir! What a treat, hearing him speaking in such fractured Westron! I really enjoyed that little exchange. Very, very well done, the entire thing.

Author Reply: Thank you! I love drabbles. They taught me a lot about using every word to convey exactly what I want a story to say.

I remembered that line in the Tales where it said Aragorn came to Lothlorien and he was "weary." Weary is the word JRRT uses for elves who are ready to chuck it in and go west or fade. I wondered what it would take to make our intrepid Ranger "weary" only a month or two after he vanquished the Corsairs. I thought a little despair was not out of line.

I'm glad you enjoyed it!

Oh, yeah. What a great follow-on to Fell Memories. It was great how the steely wariness of the elves penetrated Aragorn's exhaustion. These are Lothlorien Elves as they were meant to be! I love how they appeared out of nowhere. Celeborn was magnificent - and Galadriel, strong as steel and yet gentle (the second most beautiful woman in Arda LOL.) And the final scene was just perfect. I'm so glad you did this. Happy birthday to Lissa.

Author Reply: Thank you. I am sure that at least one guard was hiding in the trees watching this crazy Man all day. They didn't put down the food and cloak until after he was asleep after all.

Marvelous. Fell memories is powerful work. This is an excellent sequel. It well captures the pain and the hope.

Thank you.

Author Reply: You're welcome! and thank you.

I always knew this happened, but I couldn't fit it in to the other story. I'm glad Lissa gave me the excuse to write it.

This was just delightful!I loved all the small details like the water bottle and Galadriel's part at the end.Aragorn will soon feel much better!

Author Reply: Yes, he will, and if I ever get my act together, I will finish that story too. It not as if he can walk onto the hill and she throws herself at him as he goes past. LOL

Glad you enjoyed it.
