Hello, I truly enjoyed this tale. I do so love Maedhros and Maglor though I don't get much opportunity to read their stuff. I liked that it was Elros, not Elrond, that this was about. Elrond always gets the stories! :-) I loved Maedhros approbation for the young boy that he sparred with - and was not unduly upset about the why! His compliment seemed genuine. As for the family's gratitude... that is important and every father loves to see his son appreciated. I had to shiver when I read Elros' consideration of his 'captivity.' Very sad. And all I could do at the end was ... hmmmmmmmmmmmm.... Well written tale.

I enjoyed this a lot. The narrative was enticing and well written. You capture so well the layered relationship of Elros and Maedhros: of trustless love, that Elros knows what Maedhros hopes he does not... oh, yes, this was very good! -Kitt ;)

I like this tale. It enters a realm few have tried to describe. It is so very confusing for a child to both love and hate the adult that cares for him/her. Elros and Elrond were not ignorant. They knew who had them...yet, children have the capacity to love the unloveable. I would not have trusted Maedhros fully, but I would have loved him.
