You did it again! Amazing! I absolutely love the reunion, and the letters and portraits of Aragorn and Arwen's family, and Arwen's letters. That was a wonderful detail to add. I'm very impressed and touched by your writing. :-)

Author Reply: Thanks for the review, Lady Roisin, and please forgive the long delay in responding. The first two chapters were actually written as part of HLIII, but never used. I think they fit better in this story.

Oh, another daughter for Elrond and Celebrian. They can never replace Arwen, but a new child will give them a new beginning in Aman. And the mystery about Elrohir deepens. What did Elladan do to arouse the wrath of Ulmo?

Author Reply: I wrote the daughter into the story several years ago, and nearly took her out! But she needed to be there after all. :D

This was excellent - seeing the waiting on both sides was incredible.

What I most loved was 'seeing' those waiting in the West. Beautifully described and the actual reunion was terrific!

Author Reply: It had to be a good day when a ship arrived, I think! Reunions after partings that lasted so very long....

I've always imagined too that Arwen would send letters, but had not thought of pictures.I do hope that Elrond and Celebrian can have another daughter.

Author Reply: I liked the idea of the twins bringing certain items west, chronicles of the life of their sister and brother, and the grandchildren their parents would never meet.

Hmmmmm, a mystery: What turned them off course? What did Elladan say? And for what did he ask forgiveness from Elrohir?

Poor Glorfindel had to suffer anxiety over where to go once they hit land. No worries oh great balrog slayer - you are loved by everyone!

"Glorfindel laughed again, but he ceased from his fun. “Is it not good to know that this voyage does not require any great skill on our part? It gives me hope that Legolas and his dwarf also managed the trip.”" *snicker* I'm sure Gimli complained all the way!

Never been a fan of Celebrian, but I'm glad to see she his healed. And Elrond deserves all the happiness he can get.

I'd love to see a reunion with Legolas in this story - to compare their sea journeys if nothing else!

Author Reply: You tell me about not liking Celebrian in every story, and I laugh because I wonder what there is to dislike? She isn't in the stories, per se, just an entry in the Tale of Years.

But, I'm glad you are enjoying the tale and wondering what is happening. I hope I can bring this to an artful conclusion. :D

Great Chapter! A few things that stood out for this reader were Idril and Tuor - yay!, Elladan beseeching the Valar - dang!, Celeborn defending Gimili - ha!, Glorfindel's dilemma - hoorah!, and A New Baby! - woohoo!

However, such are the mysteries of being Peredhil that the human imperative to procreate does not go away. ;) Very accommodating for an elleth that really does not want to settle for just grandchildren.

But now, tricksy author that you are, after cloaking the details, I am pondering over exactly who it was that Elladan made his petition for... be cool and never tell us! ];}

So glad there is some more to come!

Author Reply: You have very keen insight, Redheredh :>) I shall say no more!

I've loved your stories for years and I was thrilled beyond belief to see a new story (or several!) from you! This is bittersweet and absolutely lovely, and the perfect fix for my honors thesis-induced stupor.

I really liked your description of Glorfindel's reunion with Turgon. It's always interesting to see fun-loving Glorfindel turn serious, and I loved the hesitation between his heart and his loyalty. I hadn't realized that Glorfindel (& Elrond) would be uncertain of Glorfindel's place in Aman, since he was returning home. It really brought home the idea from HL that Elrond & Glorfindel, lacking family for a variety of reasons, had really built a life and family in Imladris. I think you captured that dynamic of this reunited family very well.

Would love to see more of Galadriel & Celeborn, pretty please?

Author Reply: I will be doing some of the story from Celeborn's perspective, so he will be there! I am glad you are enjoying this - it is a thrill when I see a story so clearly like this.

How beautifully resolved! That there is joy and pain mixed in every choice is a truth we tend to forget, but I really liked to see how much all of them had to look forward to, despite the painful loss that they brought with them.

The wake at Elrond's was well done, I think, and I mostly liked the image of Nienna and Este walking among the guests and sharing comfort... and also Glorfindel's joy in being sailing home at last.

And most of all I liked that terrifying moment by the Meneltarma, when they thought the Road was closed to them! All lovingly wrapped up... and the family reunited as they were meant to be, with hope still alive. Looking forward for more!

Author Reply: Interesting how expectations change, isn't it? What one thought was needed for happiness changes with circumstance, and what one took for granted is less so. There are still a few mysteries to be resolved!

A very nice read...Loved it!

Glorfindel really likes to irritate Celeborne here, and I like how you have developed both of these characters.

Elladan seemed to aske forgivness from Elrohir and I wonder what needed forgiven. I also was curious as to why the ship ssemed to be taken off course and water tower over them and what Elladan said to cause it to stop.

Keep up the great work...Absolutely love this...

Author Reply: Thanks, Pippinheart, glad you have enjoyed so far.

I would be sad if (my) Glorfindel and Celeborn ceased to annoy each other :D

Ah, a daughter--a gift to offer the joy needed. How wonderful.

Alas that Elrohir apparently almost had to extort Elladan to come with them. But both were needed here.

Author Reply: Hard to imagine what it must be like to pulled in two different directions - they must be truly torn in two.
