Lovely reassurances.

Still trying desperately to catch up, I swear. Loving the story.

p.s. forgot to say VWD! Seamless, and drew me along, and left me wanting more.

Ah, yes, a skilfull blend of humour and angst. You had me worried, and then in the midst of it all chuckling, and then somehow wistful.

What was the part of the Smials where they ought not to have poked their noses?

And your view of the Tooks is very interesting. Fairy blood, indeed, and old Mad Baggins (he was half Took after all), and somehow it makes perfect sense that the Tooks would hold a more delicate balance than the more staid and solid Shire-folk that are not Tooks.

Marvelous and brilliant. So wonderful, touching...and beautifully written–by a most beautiful author. I have so enjoyed this story; each and every time I read a new chapter I always feel as if I’m there experiencing life right along with your characters. I felt as if *I* was Merry--feeling the depths of loss over Theoden...or keeping watch over my favorite cousin. I love the fact that Pippin shares this innermost part of his heart with his dearest, and obviously most trustworthy friend. I’m eager to find out what happens when he and his Aunt Esme get together! Absolutely fantastic, Pearl!

Poor Pippin, to think he is going mad! I'm glad Merry was able to be such a comfort, at least he was able to get over thinking Pippin to be mad as well. How frightening. I hope he is able to talk some more with Esmeralda when they get back home and things settle down once again. Looking forward to more!

"She is with me, Merry. She is in my head, my heart; she is in my eyes. Seeing us. Watching over you."

The soft voice was Pippin’s. The soothing voice was Merry’s mother’s. The spell-binding voice was a stranger’s, melodic and clear.

"I don’t know what this is, but you aren’t mad." Merry thought again of their captivity, of somehow feeling his mother so near to him. "Not mad," he said hugging Pippin tighter and laying his cheek against Pippin’s head. "A Took. Not a mad one, mind you. Just a Took."

Pippin clung to his beloved cousin. "Thank you," he whispered.

Oh, I'm so glad Pippin confided in Merry, and even *more* glad that the hobbits are on their way home, at last! What a journey, Pearl!
