Elf, Interrupted: Book Two: Glorfindel's Quest  by Fiondil 8 Review(s)
njomoReviewed Chapter: 80 on 10/25/2009
Aahh, the plot thickens! Some unexpected guests to stir the pot--one wonders if the Valar gave the Nandor a nudge...

Good thinking on Finrod's part to present the progress so, or at least in seems that way at this point.

I was glad to see Glorfindel take Sador in hand. And-I've one thing to say to Glorfindel: "No matter what you say, I don't think you're easily confused at all!"

'Nuff said.

So now it just remains to be seen how adding the Nandor to the luncheon mix turns events. In a way it's too bad, because I would like to see how what those in the Progress did at the lunch influenced relations with the locals, especially the leaders. But getting the locals to know the Nandor is a worthy cause also!

Thanks Fiondil!

Joanne

Author Reply: Hi Joanne. We will see in the next chapter how havnig the Nandor attend the luncheon affects relations between the Amanians and the leaders of Avallone. And of course Glorfindel was just being his usual smart-aleck self here. *grin*

So the Nandor habe decided to take part in the live of Tol Eressëa. The reaction of the other elves will be interesting.

I wonder why Laurendil and Manwen should return to Aman that fast and so suddenly and what ulterior motives the Valar have now. Why not let them stay until the origins of the rumours are found?

But I´m glad that Beleg and Sador are better after their crisis.

Watching the Amanians showing off their finery and in the same time ignoring protocol and seating precedence was fun. It will be interesting to see how long the Tol Eressëans need to recover from that.

Author Reply: We will probably learn the reason for Laurendil and Manwen's recall to Lorien eventually, though I make no promises. *grin* I'm glad you enjoyed the Amanians snubbing the Tol Eresseans. I'm sure it will take awhile for the Avalloneans to recover from the shock. *grin*

Nice details about the "sidestepping diplomatic nonsense" in Tol Eressëa. Avallónë will be the biggest problem for the Kings, it seems. So it was fun to watch how the Amanians decided to solve the problem and to make an impression on tle locals. All of them in full pomp must be a sight to behold :D

And it was fun to watch how the Tol Eressëans reacted to the seating order. I am not entirely sure if it is good to annoy them, but on the other hand they should know that they can't force the kings to do anything. Really curious how that's playing out.

Ha, and now the Nandor are turning up! That was unexpected. I take it they took Oromë's words to heart to not isolate themselves any longer; though I have to say they chose an interesting moment to change that ...

Author Reply: Hi Kitty. Glad you liked the "sidestepping diplomatic nonsense" as described in this chapter. The Amanians are obviously good at putting certain pretensious people in their place it seems. *grin*

We will see what effect the presence of the Nandor have on relationships with the Amanians and what else happens in Avallone. This Progress is far from over.

Author Reply: Hello livi. "Elf, Interrupted" takes place around 504 of the Second Age.

I do have a story with Eärwen and Amarië which you can read on this site called "The Findarto Diaries". They are not major characters though but they do play important roles. I have no plans at this time to write stories exclusively about them.

I am glad that you are enjoying this story and you can find all my other stories that I have written on this site. Thanks for your review. I greatly appreciate it.

hello Fiondil i read the story and it was so interesting and beautifull and i really sorry that i dont review before and i just hope you will continue when you have the time! and one question could you write also a story of she elf beause you write only about he elf so if you like of course and thank you i really love you stories

Author Reply: Hello Ayala. Thank you for your review. I do write about female elves, though presently they are not major characters. I am afraid that for me there is no attraction to write stories where female elves are the main characters but I know other writers do write stories about them. Perhaps you will find them here on this site. This story is far from over, so please continue reading. I generally update with a new chapter once a week.

I guess that put the Tol Eressëans in their place, maybe even knocking them down a peg or two. Hopefully they'll learn something from this experience. Setting up a government is hard enough without some people lording it over others.

It looks like this luncheon is ending up on a different note than what was planned. Can't wait to see what happens next.

Author Reply: The people of Avallone are a bit snobbish, more so than other Tol Eresseans, so the Amanians were in their right to be even more snobbish, at least to a point. We will see next week how the luncheon turns out.

I see that some people - the ellith in particular - are suffering from Garment Envy ;-)
My answers to my own bouts of that condition is to engage my creativity - with an eye to possibly incorporating the interesting details in some future sewing project. Perhaps there will now be a subtle shift in the local fashion towards whatever is currently fashionable on the mainland? ;-)

It was interesting how the mainlanders gently scr**ed up their hosts' careful arrangements by choosing to ignore seating precedence. This may well produce some fallout - at least if one is to judge things by Lord Morcocáno's affront at not being seated by one of the Kings.

And then the Nandor show up!! (And I suppose that lots of confusion will ensue from this. What fun!) ;-)

Author Reply: You may be correct about the change in fashion, at least among the ellith of Tol Eressea. At least they've found something worth emulating from the mainland. *grin*

The Amanians, of course, are not so subtly putting down the pretensions of the Avalloneans by ignoring protocol. What fallout occurs from it will be seen in the next chapter. And yes, the Nandor are a fine spanner in the works.
