Very cute story! Like the unexpected point of view.

Author Reply: Thank you so much, Armariel! I'm glad you enjoyed the story of Tulip's "birth". She is rather bossy and insisted on telling it from her point of view. ;-)

A most interesting and insightful account of the origin of dragons!

"He killed the snake to examine how it was made."
This simple sentence expresses powerfully what's wrong with the likes of Morgoth.

This is beautifully done, the way the past and present are woven together.

What a lovely story! Love esp. Manwe's words to the Mariner about Sam and the the last sentence the most. That was neat!

Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Author Reply: Thank you so much, Antane, for reading and commenting on this story! :-)

I like the last bit a lot myself. I think Earendil would be pleased that he is still helping those who battle evil in Middle-earth.

Again, such a beautiful moment as Earendil and Sam share that moment of renewed hope, and Sam finds it in him to pass on the strength it renewed in himself to Frodo for the next day's weary journey. Lovely!

Author Reply: Thank you so much, Larner. :-)

I put a lot of research into this because I do not know the Silmarillion at all. I have owned it for many years but have only read it twice and didn't get much out of it either time. It's encouraging to know my research paid off.

Poor dragons, twisted and infected by Morgoth. I feel quite sorry for them.
Yew is a very hobbity dragon now and I think he is fond of Pippin and his family (restraining himself from roasting the cat must have taken a lot of control). I still think an AU story in which Paladin brings out the family dragon to deal with the ruffians would be a winner! ;-)

A lovely look at the origins of the fire-drakes, Pearl.

So, although Morgoth had only the darkest intentions when he created the Dragons, he made a grave mistake.

And the Dragons were able to reproduce far away from the control of the Dark One and retain at least a few good "lizard qualities". It's like in "Jurassic Park": Nature always finds a way!

As for Yew being a hobbity dragon: I think you're right :-)

I can understand Pippins frustration at being teased so unmercifully, but I do think he let his frustration go a bit too far!
Makes you wonder how the Quest would have gone with only 7 Walkers, or did Elrond send a couple more elves or dwarfs along? Would Boromir have survived at Amon Hen, who roused the Ents, was Eoywin able to defeat the Witch King on her own, did Faramir survive? Inquiring minds want to know!

Author Reply: Oh my!

I'm afraid you'll just have to wonder. I have no intention of rewriting the entire story of LOTR in an AU without my dear Merry and Pippin. :-) This was just a wee response to what I took as a challenge to write "the impossible" Merry and Pippin story.

I'm glad it got you thinking, Lynda, and thank you so much for reading and commenting! :-)

So, this one was tucked in earlier in the series. Almost missed it here.

Interesting to read the history of dragons told by a young dragon himself. And Yew appears to have taken on characteristics of the family that has taken him in.

Most interesting!

Author Reply: My mistake on the chapter listing. Making it the correct number totally went by me.

I'm so glad you enjoyed this, Larner. :-) Yes, I do think Yew is becoming a rather Hobbity dragon. LOL

Hi Pearl,

Lovely new story! I enjoyed this look at Yew and his ancestors. Well done!

(I'm sorry I can't be more eloquent, but it's getting late and I need bed. I appreciated being able to get to this for my bedtime story though! *grin* Oh, by the way, just wondering why this is numbered as a second Chapter One instead of at the end of the chapter list?)

Well done, I loved the story! More Yew soon please!

Kaylee

I'll at least be finishing up the main Yew story. If there will be anymore after that . . . I have no idea.

Someone else pointed the chapter thing out and I've fixed it. Thank you for finding this anyway.
