Oh dear, the words we wish we could take back! This has to be the most regretful thing Merry has ever said to Pip and I bet his heart broke in half when he realized what he had done!
Oh my Pearl, I've already told you how much I'm enjoying this story and eagerly look forward to every new chapter. Kudos to Golden too!
Cathleen

Author Reply: I guess I wrote this well because it is a problem I have *embarrassed blushing*

We're so glad you are enjoying our story, Cathleen! Thank you so much for reading and responding :-)

Oh dear! It seems clear that Pippin's had a personality change, such as is sometimes brought on by a stroke--what are they going to be able to do about it? And I have a feeling that Aragorn is going to be in for some hard questions from his companions. Frodo especially is not going to be happy that this possibility was kept from him.

I'm curious to see how this plays out.

Author Reply: Yes, the lad is behaving differently - at least at times. You've reminded me of something we'll need to deal with, thank you :-)

And thank you for reading and responding!

Oh my god! Merry's last words were too much for poor Pippin, I fear!

So, is it a lesion in the brain, like Larner suggested? That would be terrible! To be honest, I had to look that word up - lesion, I have never heard of it before. But it really frightens me!

Like shirebound and Larner, I think it's high time for the master healers, Aragorn and Elrond, to show their skills! And for Merry to apologise ;-) He didn't mean it, I know and the tea must have been very hot. But he could have used some less drastic words!

Please update soon!

Author Reply: Hi Andrea!

Well . . . we'll see what it all is shortly. :-)

Merry will regret his words - he is, after all, a good, kind hobbit.

Soon. Things will come to light soon :-)

Thank you for reading!

*sob* *frets*

Somebody pull Aragorn and Elrond away from their less important duties, quick!

Author Reply: Soon :-)

Thank you for sticking with us!

I am in awe of this wonderful story, Pearl! Golden is doing marvelous, too! :-) Seems everything is indeed coming to a head...and landing on poor Pippin's. Before, he was just glad to be alive, now it appears he's going through the anger stage. All of this, his reactions, his friends reactions, are all on the money and fantastic.

Gotta go, work is shrieking its nasssty voices at me...

PF

Author Reply: Nassty work. It's evil workses, my precioussss!

Thank you so much, from Golden and me! Yes, it's landing on Pip like a troll.

So glad you feel things are on the money!

Oh, dear, another seizure and all are miserable. Okay, Aragorn, put your healers training from your foster father to work here and let them know what's going on.

Poor Pippin--with the lesion in the brain he can't drink much any more.

Author Reply: You do have it spot on, Larner ;-)

The tide will turn soon - I think chapter 6 or 7. Depends on how long I feel I can have 5 go without it being too long for people to sit at their computers and read.

Thank you :-)

Of course the problem is they are all at the edge of their control. The relief has worn off and they need ... something more. Otherwise all three hobbits - and the rest of the Fellowship - would be hovering over Pippin and doing their best to sort out what is wrong with him. (Although perhaps it would help if they shared their worries! They might begin to spot a pattern.)

Author Reply: Exactly, Bodkin! Real Life, so to speak, is keeping them all otherwise occupied and unsure of how they should respond to things. That and I think it happens to all of us at some time or another that our minds choose to not deal with what we see happening.

In Pip's case, it doesn't help that some of these things are similar to ways he behaved in the past. That makes it easier to not see the ways they are different.

Thank you for your good comments!

'He had caught Sam hobbling when Frodo wasn’t around.' OH! How incredibly sad! Oh dear, you broke my heart with this line... dear, dear Sam - hiding his injuries from Frodo...

'Merry had scolded him again earlier in the day...' The evil you spoke of grows darker - poor Merry, attacking his best friend, and poor Pip being the target of said attacks!

'The world froze.'

I have a horribly dark feeling that you are going to kill me with this story. I am grateful the chapters seem to be flowing quickly - for I cannot hold onto the edge of the chair for very much longer!

WOW!

Author Reply: Thank you, Agape :-)

I'll have to remember I mentioned that about Sam ;-)

I think they are all in denial - but that's too modern a thought to put in the story. And they all actually have good reasons for being a bit on edge.

I hope I don't kill you. If RL would quit interruptiing, I might have things posted a bit faster.

Wow~! I haven't read many fics lately, but I was procrastinating on grading papers and found this story and...WOW! This wonderful and horrifying and fascinating and a really unique tale. I can't wait to find out what happens next--like, how will Pippin and the others feel when they find out the extent of his injuries? And what exactly ARE the extent of his injuries? And will he ever recover ever??? And and and--!!!

I hope you update soon. :-)

Author Reply: Hi Storyfish! Glad we hooked you and are reeling you in! (bad puns - bad puns)

Golden is great to work with and I'm so grateful that she is letting me help bring this tale to the readers at SOA.

Thank you so much for your kind words and I'll hopefully be updating before the week is out!

Oh my goodness. Things have really gotten bad. I was not expecting Pippin to have something like that happen to him at the tavern. If he knew what he'd said and done, he'd be mortified. He would never intentianly do something like that to any of them.

I felt so bad for him waking up the way he did, Yuck! That was awful. And now Sam is pretty sure it was Pippin who left the mess in tha bathing room, and he's liable to mistake the why of it. Pippin is in for a lot worse unless someone gets to the bottom of this real soon.

At least it seems they didn't put him to bed on his back. That could have been really, really bad.

I think I'm going to have to reread this chapter to get all the details. You must update SOON! I can't stand leaving them at this point. I won't have any fingernails left.

Author Reply: Thank you so much, Garnet :-)

They are all on tenter hooks and it will all come to a head soon. I'm hoping to update this week for sure, though I hate to say when. As soon as I do something happens and I don't make it.

Yes, Sam is fairly sure he knows what's amiss now. And soon the others will too.

Thank you!
