Oh, I love it! Diana Wynn Jones meets Tolkien! Lovely!

And I agree with Aragorn and Arwen--Eldarion needs his imagination fed as well as his love of learning facts.

Author Reply: I love Diana Wynne Jones. Tolkien was one of her professors, and she makes a mention of LOTR in each of her books, so I thought it fitting to stick her in somewhere. I'm glad you like it!

I thoroughly enjoyed your first story of the young princess and her monkey...and this one promises to be just as wonderful! I loved the descriptions of the house and how the Princess is so different and exotic from the Gondorians. Eldarian is very captivated by just those differences and the gift of a book to read and discuss later with her...hmmmm, he might find this means of learning more interesting than the dry lessons he has had in the past - his royal mom and dad clearly recognize the benefits of encouraging the friendship.

Author Reply: Thank you! I like to use a lot of description in my writing, but at the end of the day I try to leave it a bit impressionistic, instead of giving the full in-your-face details. I hope it works. :)

What? Education can be interesting? Elessar and Arwen should definitely encourage the acquaintance! Their son will benefit enormously - lessons in manners, other cultures, the value of books. Good for Lady Seraphine.

Author Reply: Oh, they're definitely going to encourage it! Anything that gets their son to learn will be encouraged. :)

Thanks for reading! I hope this one is interesting.

Yea! I get to be first to review this. You paint lovely pictures, ma'am! I can just see the exotic princess and her fascinating, colorful furnishings. I liked the reference to Dol Amroth. Living on the coast let them meet and trade with a wide variety of people. I am sure that there could have been strains of many different lands, from folks who came to trade and ended up staying. I am sure that when she visited as a child with her grandfather she was made to feel welcome. Now their kindness will be repaid, as Eldarion has an interesting new friend. I have fond memories of teachers who made things interesting, who made me think. Eldarion has not, so far, had the chance to travel to many lands as his father did. It seems this new friend can be his introduction to new places and people. I also liked your reference to big wars and small conflicts. Sadly, our age is too full of those sorts of small, never-ending conflicts. I am looking forward to more of this. I hope that your RL co-operates.

Author Reply: Thank you! I think the best kind of teachers are the ones who appeal to the things that interest you, never forcing things upon you. I think Eldarion's found that with the princess. You're right, she's going to open up new opportunities for him.

I hope my RL works out, too! I've got the first three chapters written because I work on them during class, lol. :)
