Lovey to read - perfect for midwinter. Just came from reading your Midsummer story on your LJ. :-)

How lovely and Christammsy- thank you! I love the way you evoke the smells of Christams- which is the best bit really! And CLEVER Elrohir.

Sweet little twins. And Elrohir has already started to develop the ability to think ahead, while Elladan is more direct! While Elrond will turn anything into an educational opportunity - a lesson on sharing!

Lovely atmosphere - I can just see the inhabitants of Imladris waiting for the first star to appear so they can indulge in their mid-winter celebrations. Not to mention smell the fresh greenery and the lovely pine fragrance of the season.

Delightful.

Author Reply: The scent of a real tree is one of the things I love about Christmas. Like you, I can see the elves waiting for the star so clearly, and tried to create that air of excitement.

It was fun to show the different characteristics of the twins again - and it wouldn't have been realistic for them to happily agree to share without argument!

Lovely piece, you can just feel the enticipation of the twins.
Elrohir did get the better of his twin this time ;)

Author Reply: I used to love the excitement and anticipation of Christmas, and tried to show this in the story. Thanks!

That was cute! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year and thankyou for all your wonderful stories!

Author Reply: Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed this bit of elfling fluff!

Ah yes, I remember this was mentioned in the other fic last year. Nice idea to take up the first sighting of the star by the twins and the resulting problems and to write another fic around it.
And of course I ended up giggling about the way the twins solved the problem and Elrohir allowed so generously his brother to wear it first, clearly understanding he would get to wear it much longer the next day. Clever elfling :)

Author Reply: I always intended to write this one day - but had to be in the right Christms mood!

It would be too fluffy (and unrealistic) if the twins generously decided to share with no arguments - so Elladan got his claim in first, and was swiftly out-manoeuvred!

Ah, but they ARE both clever, aren't they? Lovely solution; and I see they both inherited their parents' brains.

Author Reply: Yes, they're both clever elflings - but how could they not be? :>)

I agree with both Celebrian and Elrond. When your kids are young, it seems like forever, but then they're grown up and you realize how short the time was. This story was a nice mix of sensory images, Jay. Made me want to go and drape greenery and make gingerbread.

Author Reply: Thanks. I tried to create as much festive atmosphere as possible. One of the nicest things at Christmas for me is the scent of a real tree.

The twins must be exhausting at this age, but they'll grow up too fast.
