Awww...This is so, so sweet! :) I just love the image of them all dressed up, and the little touches like this:

trunk wobbled as the head bobbed enthusiastically up and down several times.

Ah, the days of elaborate Halloween costumes with wobbly appendages. :)

The child looked scandalized. "Oh, no, Mr. Frodo, I couldn’t do that, not when you might need more help!"

Frodo looked earnestly at his friend. "I’m already feeling a little better, Sam, and I feel awful that all our fun was ruined. I don’t want you to miss
out on anymore. I want you to go out and have enough fun for both of us."

Sam still looked uncertain. "Are you sure, Mr. Frodo?"

The tween smiled. "Quite sure, Sam."

The child left very reluctantly. He returned in tears only twenty minutes later, practically running to his future master’s side and placing his small hands
on the armrest. "I tried to have fun, Mr. Frodo. I did. But I couldn’t without you. Can’t I stay here?"

Aw! *hugs Sam* Poor Sam. I can sympathize, though. I can't stand it when someone dear to me is in trouble or not feeling well or whatever and I'm not there in case I'm needed.

And Gandalf came! Frodo's reaction to his arrival made me laugh. I'm sure that was very unexpected! :) So this is how Frodo and Sam met Gandalf--wonderful! And wonderful, also, that Gandalf could ease Frodo's ankle.

The wizard smiled and gently laid the two down. Frodo curled around Sam, their heads touching and hands reaching out and clasping. Gandalf saw that the
child indeed knew even in his sleep to avoid his brother’s tender ankle.

“Thank you, Gandalf,” Bilbo said with a smile. “You’ve made this a very special day for them both.”

*melts* :)

When he tried to pour the
second dose into a flower pot Sam had placed near his bed, he was caught in the act. He couldn’t decide what he felt more guilty for - not drinking it
or pouring it into Sam’s beloved flowers when he saw his brother’s stricken face. He apologized over and over and knew he was forgiven, but felt wretched
from guilt for two days after that.

Oh dear...*hides a grin* Poor Frodo. It's not funny, but it is because...well, my brothers try those tricks all the time when they don't want to take their medicine. I laugh, but if I was in the place of a parent, or in this case Sam, it wouldn't be so funny.

"Who’s your favorite Elf, Sam?" Frodo asked his friend one morning.

Sam didn’t hesitate. "You, Mr. Frodo."

The tween laughed softly. "Me? But that was just make-believe, my Sam. I’m not really an Elf!"

"You would be if you weren’t a hobbit," the child said very solemnly.

This is my favourite part. "You would be if you weren't a Hobbit." This sounds so like something serious little Sam would say! :)

I do think this is the sweetest of your happy stories, Antane. It's just delightful! :)
God bless,
Galadriel :)

Aww! The image of little Sam in an Oliphaunt costume sitting on Frodo's lap is TOO cute! That ankle must hurt awfully, but Sam is there to cheer him up. This is an adorible story!
God bless,
Ellie

Author Reply: Thank you, my dear! I thought it was a cute image too. Where would Frodo be without his Sam?

You expanded this story beautifully, Antane. I especially love this part:

Frodo's heart is a puzzle that others have pieces that fit just perfectly into his and he completes them."

"And you are one of those pieces, Bilbo," Gandalf said with a smile.

"As is the Shire itself. I am very lucky, Gandalf, very lucky indeed."

"So is he."

Author Reply: Thank you - glad you enjoyed the 'extended version'! :) I like the idea of the puzzle too. It's so true for him.

This was so sweet and a lot of fun to read. I very much enjoyed the description of the oliphaunt's wobbling head and trunk. It's always a pleasure to see Frodo being so lovingly tended by Bilbo and Sam. Having Gandalf take part in Frodo's healing was a treat as well. Frodo was quite brave to drink that beet and radish mixture. Sam's remark about Frodo being and elf if he weren't a hobbit was precious and sounded just like something small Sam might say.

Author Reply: Hannon le! It was fun to write some happiness for them. I think that seeing his beloved Frodo as an Elven hobbit would be something Sam would see. Glad you enjoyed!

Aaaawww! This is just the sweetest, Antane! So *that's* how Frodo sprained his ankle jumping off a haycart! I hoped we would get to see that!

"I am also very proud of you, Iorhael of the Woodland Realm and of Frodo of the Shire. That could have been a real
mess back there, but you acted quickly and took the hurt and kept others safe."

Indeed. That sounds so like Bilbo.

And it's so cute how Bilbo dressed up and enjoyed himself as much as any child! :) That's how I want to be when I'm considered a "grown-up": mature enough to handle situations and be a role model, but young enough at heart to play with my kids and/or young relatives or friends and understand all their fears and joys, no matter how small.

And the conversation near the end is so very sweet, as is that last little picture of the brothers of the heart sleeping side by side in perfect innocent contentment.

I love it!
God bless,
Galadriel

Author Reply: Hantanyel, ammelda! Glad you enjoyed! I kept thinking I would have grow up once I reached a certain age and each time I have I decided I didn't want to and now I've decided I don't want to grow up at all. Please take another look at the story since I've added a lot to it about a special trick or treater that comes along. :)

Aw, soft, sweet and definitely fluffy! *brandishes fluff-buster for keyboard usually reserved for Shirebound's epics.* But did they get their own treats from that fiercesome dragon?

Happy All Saints' Day Antane.

Author Reply: Hantanyel, my dear harrowcat - yes, they did their treats. I've added a long section that came to me the next day that includes a mention of that - so get back out that fluff-buster and take another look! :)

You decided to write this!!!! Yeah!!! *smiles from ear to ear*

I LOVE the very first sentence; it made me giggle. Frodo looked at the oliphaunt standing in his parlor.

I also like how Bilbo is also caught up in the festive spirit. He would make a very fine and fierce dragon indeed. LOL!

I also liked the detail of the hobbits going out and about during the daytime instead of at night. That just seems even more hobbity to me.

Your little Sam and Frodo are just so sweet. Even at such a young age, it's obvious to see the love, devotion, and care Sam bestows upon Frodo.

I very much enjoyed your Bilbo also. Through your writing it's so easy to see just how much he loves Frodo and realizes how special a hobbit he truly is. Frodo just brings out the best in everyone!

"I am too." He looked down at Frodo. "I am also very proud of you, Iorhael of the Woodland Realm and of Frodo of the Shire. That could have been a real mess back there, but you acted quickly and took the hurt and kept others safe."

Bilbo returned the smile, glad to see it. How beautiful his boy was! Shining bright even now. He never tired of looking at him. "You’re only as old as you feel, my lad."

p.s. I was watching the 'History of Halloween' on the History channel tonight and I found it to be quite interesting. I can easily picture the hobbits celebrating as the ancient Romans used to, by gathering their harvest then celebrating a good year.

Author Reply: Hannon le, my dear! I am so glad you enjoyed! That's an interesting tidbit about the history of Halloween. I had more inspiration hit the next day with a special trick or treater that comes calling so please go back and read more! :)

Yes, and a wonderful evening is known by all, in spite of the mishap. Am glad the two are resting together.

Author Reply: Hantanyel, my dear Larner! Where else but near each other are these two to be? :) I've added a whole new section of a surprise guest coming to the door so please go back and read that too.

Namarie, God bless, Antane
