That was a surprise. I really liked your spin on Legolas' birth/age. I hadn't envisioned Oropher with dark hair (did I miss that part somewhere? :D ), but otherwise I think it was just Perfect. I like to see Leggy happy, and I especially love it when he's surprised. Great job. :)

Author Reply: Thanks!

No, there's nothing in canon to say he had dark hair, it's just a personal preferance for him. :)

I'm really glad you liked it!

Yes, the sunshine is back in the older Elf's life. Nice piece.

It's good that you realize that one of the reasons why Legolas's sea-longing is so sad is that he's going to be pretty much alone (except for Gimli for the rest of the dwarf's lifetime) in Valinor. The other Wood-Elves may never leave their forest.

Many fanfiction writers seem to postulate either that lots and lots of elves of Mirkwood will sail to Valinor or that Legolas has close friends from the other elven realms (such as the sons of Elrond, for instance). But I think your version is more what Tolkien had in mind. Oropher might well be the only familiar elf he will ever meet in Aman.

Author Reply: Thank you very much for this lovely review. :)

While I wish I could believe that all the Elves sailed, I just don't think that could ever really happen, particularly with the Arda-loving Silvans and the Sindar. They were never as tied to Valinor as the Noldor.

I'm really glad you enjoyed the story!

It's a nice change to see a story where Gimli arrives in Valinor and meets not with scorn and outrage, but fascination on the part of the local elves. Kudos for realizing that.

As you gave your name also as "Tuxedo Elf," I'm wondering if that name relates to Tuxedo in NC? It's just down the road a piece from me in Hvl.

Author Reply: Thank you! Since a lot of the Elves in Valinor have probably only heard stories of Dwarves, it seemed a little more natural. :)

LOL no, I'm afraid not. I actually live in England. :P I took the 'tuxedo' part of my name from the anime series 'Sailor Moon'.
