Love Endures  by Antane 6 Review(s)
Frodo BagginsReviewed Chapter: 8 on 10/16/2006
Yes, I am reading this story. I've been so far behind fanfiction. I don't where I got to. Oh my goodness! I could *not* imagine having to tell the family of...my Sam that *I* killed their loved one. That would wrench the heart right out of me. But Sam was there all the same, and he wouldn't leave Frodo or his family no matter what. Even when he's not visible, they all know he's there. And the part about Frodo's parents is so heartwarming. Hannon le!
IM mil le,
GOd Bless,
Frodo Baggins

The Ring did what it could to destroy, but couldn't stop the divine plan. And Love even now works to fully claim Frodo once again.

The last time I went to Church before I went away, the priest's sermon had one very defining lesson, moral, truth (whatever you want to call it) to it:

that Forgiveness is Love. (and to Love is also to Forgive)

You captured that sentiment so very well here between the Gamgees and Frodo, Antane. I just don't know what else to say, except that you've blown me away with this entire AU tale. Very well done!

Author Reply: Hannon le for your very kind words, my dear Elemmire! I was wondering what happened to you and wondered if you didn't like the latest chapters (I do have a tendency to sometimes jump to worst-case scenario with no in between) and am very glad that you are still enjoying! I don't know (yet at least) what happens to Rose or to Frodo for that matter. We'll see!

Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

It may not be a tale suitable for lasses but they need to hear it to understand why they had to lose Sam.

Forgiveness is one of the greatest gifts that we can give one another and, I think, acceptance of that gift can be one of the hardest things to do too. You show this so well.

Author Reply: Hantanyel, my dear harrowcat! So true about forgiveness - the only person who hasn't forgiven Frodo is Frodo himself. We'll have to see whether that stubborn Baggins can bring himself to believe he's not so terrible as he thinks he is.

Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

"He’s....he’s...buried in Gondor," Frodo said softly. "That’s....that’s...where I...killed him."

He lowered his head and began to cry again as he heard shocked gasps and saw the grief-stricken faces of Rose and the Gamgee clan, heard the weeping. He
only raised his head again when instead of weeping, he heard more sharp intakes of breath.

This made my heart feel as if it had skipped a beat, really.

Frodo turned and stared at his best friend who looked back at him and smiled.

"I want to tell you what happened," Sam said to his family and the lass he had dreamed of marrying. "I want you to know about the finest hobbit there ever
was. My master and friend."

This made me gape, literally. Wow! Sam can still talk to them!

Frodo opened his mouth to protest.

Not a word, dear, came Sam’s voice in his head.

But, Sam, you’re the...

Not. A. Word.

Frodo sighed. Stubborn Gamgee.

Stubborn Baggins. Now sit down and be still.

Oh, Antane, you're wonderful! In the midst of all this angst you can still provoke laughter! I love it!

Frodo felt his battered soul held once more by Sam’s overwhelming love. "They don’t hate you because they see I don’t. They can forgive because they can
see I have. I haven’t been taken away, dear. No Ring could do that to us. When I was dying, I saw Light and Love that I so wish to share with you. I begged
to be able to stay with you."

Frodo began to cry again. He felt Sam’s gentle touch on his back and wrapped in such love, he fell back asleep. "Thank you," he murmured.

This made me cry. No, outright sob. That explains so much, says so much.

Yet even with such a peaceful and somewhat reassuring ending, I'm still curious. What happenes now? And oh! what joy there will be when these two are reunited!
God bless,
Galadriel

P.S. Sorry I haven't caught up on Via or e-mail, and I just hate to leave you hanging so with EBH (though you have to own you do deserve it after all those cliff-hangers :), but I care too much about you to be so cruel as to leave you hanging on purpose :)), but I've been angsted out what with fic and real life and am only starting to recover.

Author Reply: Hantanyel, my ammelda! Glad you liked that little humor in there. Sam knows what's best for his Frodo at all times and is not afraid to make that known to his dear. I'm a bit angsted out myself (but I assume I'll get over it!) Glad to know you are beginning to recover. :)

Namarie, God bless, Melinyel, Antane :)

Oh, I wondered how you were going to have him tell Rosie... *tear* I was just in the mood for angst tonight, and this was the perfect chapter to read! What is going to happen next?
God bless,
Ellie
