Oh I am so glad that they are out of those cages even if it means being up a tree for hours. No offence meant to the tree of course!

Author Reply: Well, you know Legolas is comfortable, and Aragorn would much rather be there than in a cage. I'm sure no offence was taken. :o)

Whew! They are safe for now. Now where are their weapons. Oh, right there, wait a a minute who is that observing them? Pickett you say. Oh, no. Well done chapter. Now if they can collect their weapons, and horses and finish their escape. Silly troll looking right at the elf and not recognizing what he was seeing. Can their escape be this easy. I doubt that. It wouldn't be their kind of luck to escape on the first try. Besides they aren't hurt enough yet. One of them usually sustains a major injury instead of many minor ones. Now I have to wait until after Thanksgiving. Pout, pout. Not fair. Eagerly awaiting the next installment of "Trolls".

Author Reply: Yes, but it remains to be seen, if they stay that way or not. Thank you. Silly troll, indeed, and let's not forget to say thanks to that very ‘smart’ tree. Those two do seem to have bad luck most of the time, and of course, you are right about one of them usually being badly injured. Will this time be any different? :o) I wish I could get another chapter ready before Thanksgiving, but that just won't happen, I'm afraid. Hang in there. It won't be too long.

Good that they have made it this far, and bless the tree.

Author Reply: We can only hope they make it a lot farther. :o) Yes, definitely bless that tree. It's nice to know that even a tree that may have never seen an elf before still has a strong conncection to one.

I enjoy your stories, and perhaps I've missed something, but don't trolls turn to stone in the sunlight? I seem to remember that detail from The Hobbit--didn't Bilbo trick them into staying after sunrise and they turned to stone?

I believe in the extended edition of The Fellowship of the Ring that Sam mentions the stone trolls on Weathertop are the ones from Mr. Bilbo's story.

Forgive me if this is incorrect and please don't take it as a criticism...I was just a bit puzzled.

Author Reply: Your memory matches mine. However, my trolls were not created by Tolkien. They are purely my own inventions. I am not offended. I can understand your confusion, under the circumstnaces. I hope you are now clear on why my trolls differ from the professor's.
