Bedside Manner  by Rowan 9 Review(s)
svadilfariReviewed Chapter: 1 on 6/1/2007
Oh, this was so gloriously detailed and beautiful. You truly did a fantastic job at catching the essence of the fool of a Took. I call my brother that when he annoys me which is to say, most of the time. I think I may have had tears well up when Pippin spoke to Frodo about him being his hero. Lovely. Just reading this brought a warm glow to my heart.

Author Reply: Awwww, what a sweet review. I'm feeling a bit of a warm glow myself. :-) (And I certainly can relate to having an annoying brother! Try having three! LOL)

Oh, this is so sweet, Rowan! Tying a bell in the foothair, now there's a new one! LOL! But seriously, everyone is perfectly in character, especially Pippin and Gandalf! We don't see first-person Pip too often, and you do wonderfully with it.
God bless,
Galadriel

Aww that's sweet! And interesting to write it in Pippin's voice, the first-person narrative is hardly ever done and I think it works well here. I liked Pippin's interaction with Gimli at the beginning and his recounting of his memories of Frodo towards the end. A really sweet and gentle story :)

Author Reply: Thanks! Sweet and gentle is what I was going for. And I really appreciate this kind of review (commenting on specific bits). Thanks!

Now, tying the bell to the hair on Frodo's foot is totally a new one, and inspired! Ah, how wonderful an image it is! Love the idea!

Author Reply: The bell-in-the-foothair thing was actually suggested to me quite a while ago by my best friend. I just finally found somewhere to work it in.

Thanks for the review!

Very touching.

Lovely. My favorite line is this: (Merry is my brother, but you are my hero, Frodo.) That does seem to say it all.

Ah, that was marvelous. Thank you so much for posting it! I particularly loved it when Pippin started to babble at Frodo about everything that had happened.

Author Reply: And it's so Pippin to see the advantages in having a captive audience, too! Thanks!

This is marvelous. I can never get enough of gentle, loving, healing Cormallen stories. This really rings true, and I enjoyed every word.

Author Reply: You are too kind, Shirebound! Thanks!
