Great start. I particularly love Eowyn's memory of Morwen.

Wow. I read this on FF.net and I love it even better here. It is a bit amusing that Faramir wasn't sent to Imladris when he was so obviously the better choice. And I love the rather ruthless methods his cousin used to get him to be the one to go on the trip.

And again I love Faramir in Rohan - Boromir seemed like he would fit in with the Rohirrim whereas Faramir seems otherworldly and more elven - and I can't get over how well Faramir deals with Wormtongue.

Author Reply: Thank you. Well, amusing and disastrous. I really think that it's strongly implied that it would have been better had he gone, so this should actually be somewhat *happier* than the original. If I ever get around to finishing it.

Yes, Boromir is more an example of the future of Gondor, as it dwindles, than very much like contemporary Gondorians. Éomer says that Boromir is more like a Man of Rohan than the 'grave Men of Gondor'. He thinks this a good thing. And Faramir is one of the only characters actually compared to Elves, so . . . There is definitely an otherworldly aspect to him. Oh, I'm pleased you liked him with Wormtongue. A scene I didn't intend to write but just "happened" (the mental image of Denethor and Wormtongue was just too funny to leave out).

A wonderful look at Faramir from Eowyn's POV, in Rohan, where he comes in Boromir's place in this AU. I loved the comparison to Morwen Steelsheen, very apt, since she was Imrahil's kin, and the confrontation with Wormtongue. I would also love to see Denethor have a discussion with Grima; he'd make verbal mincemeat of the nasty fellow. And the description of Grima as a pathetic mouse hunting a fierce cat (Faramir) - excellent. (though I also see Faramir as a wolf, because he is a social creature, and extremely loyal to friends and kin)

Author Reply: Thank you, again! Yes, Morwen is a relation, so it worked. Yes, Denethor could make many kinds of mincemeat out of him, I think. Oh, I don't really see Faramir as all that social, although certainly loyal. The cat image really came from his general habit of going his own way, and of course I imagine him as somewhat enigmatic in expression.

OOooooo I am very intrigued. I love Faraimr and this could get veeerry interesting! I'm liking it so far.... and I won't flip ahead in cannon to compare what might happen at Amon Hen... :O ::clasps hands firmly over mouth::: Don't Kill him! ack! I did it again! ::tapes mouth shut:: LOL Sorry for the silliness. This looks very interesting and I can't wait for more! :)

Author Reply: I am very glad. Ah, Amon Hen. Let's all think positive thoughts!

Peredhel,

This is a great start! I love your description of Faramir as seen by Eowyn. I can't wait to read more.

Author Reply: Thank you. He is one who is easier to describe through someone else's eyes than his own.

Oh my! I think I am going to *love* this! I've often been tempted to do "Faramir-goes-to-Rivendell" but Men are not my forte--I'm much better at hobbits! I look forward to seeing how *this* one plays out!

So far it's brilliant--I love the idea of Erchirion somehow seeing to Boromir's being incapacitated, and Faramir's knowing what he did, yet being complicit with it. And for Faramir to meet Eowyn *before* she meets Aragorn--very clever! I can't wait to see where you go with it.

Needless to say, I very much look forward to his interaction with the Fellowship, especially the hobbits, and most especially with Frodo and with Pippin!

Author Reply: Thank you! Well, I hope you enjoy it. I have some strongly-held opinions about it! Pippin is definitely the funnest to write.
