Not willingly will Peregrin Took miss a meal! Heh!

The jeweller is asking about the watch and Degger can't be his real name? I sense a mystery!

Silly Pippin. An example of doing anything to get attention? Good think Paladin is wise and kind. He did a pretty good job of explaining - but I don't know how much Pippin registered. Not an easy transition, this. Not for anyone.

Author Reply: It is true; I am trying my best to write at least an *interesting* mystery, lol. I'm not giving away anything that I haven't already said; keep your eye on the watch...and a few other things. ;-)

Pippin is still several months away from fourteen--not that he will suddenly get out of bed on his fourteenth birthday and think like an adult, but he's still somewhat of a child, and reasons as such. Even the most intelligent person will at times act upon emotions, and Pippin is used to having his father's undivided attention. He will eventually adjust. :-)

Thank you for reading!

Once again you've created a great chapter. Poor Paladin. He is so being taken advantage of. He's going to have a lot of work to do to staighten out the mess Ferumbras has made of things.

You do such a great job with the parent-child relationship. I think Pippin may now understand just a little what his father is going through. And, no, I don't buy his story that he ate all those sweets just because his dad wasn't there to stop him. Nice try young Took. The guilt trip is the oldest ploy in the book.

Now I'm anxious to find out what Degger's real name is. My guess is that once they learn that, they'll find out a lot more about his history.

Thanks.

GT.

Author Reply: Yes, that darned Ferumbras! Oh, but more is coming on his wee storyline. ;-)

What a lovely compliment! Thank you. :-) I won't empty my Samsonite luggage here, but lets just say that I live vicariously through these two characters. All children are masters at manipulation, and Pippin is no exception...in fact, he excels in it. LOL, not really, but he knows his way around adults and his peers.

Oh...his real name is coming up. And it's not a "made up" name, either. Well, *Degger* is, but the name *his* name is based on, isn't made up. I got it from a list of boy's names of a Germanic origin. You'll see later in the story. ;-)

Thanks for reading! Have fun in New York!

"Tis a hard lesson for our lad to bear, not having as much of his Father's time. *sigh* But Paladin will try his best, I'm sure :)

Well done! Well done!

Author Reply: It is hard...on both. Pippin does need his father right now Paladin is having to divide himself between his work and his family, and *he* is finding out that this isn't easy, either. Paladin's challenge will be in having to figure out how to harness Pippin's excess energy...which is how I think Frodo got to be a "regular warren" while living in Buckland.

In the chapters to come, all of this will play into the plot a little bit. :-)

Thank you for reading!

I come home from work and find another lovely chapter! Excellent! I had to grin at Degger trying to decide what to admit to when Paladin asked about Pippin. It can't be easy having a friend that is always into something! I do hope Degger does well on his exams. ALso looking forward to more answers about a certain watch!

Author Reply: LOL, no it isn't easy! I think it was hard for the young fella. No doubt he was feeling a wee bit torn by his loyalty to Pippin and also to Paladin. Hmmm...that certain watch...keep watching it! :-D

Thank you for reading!

Hmm...I'm beginning to have a hunch of sorts about Degger. But I won't say anything. If I'm wrong, I won't be embarrassed, and if I'm right, I don't want to give away a spoiler. LOL!

I liked Paladin's conversation with Pippin. Poor Pip. He really does miss all the time he's had with his father before. But it is time he began to understand.

And I am so curious as to what *Paladin* is up to!

Author Reply: ROTFL! I would wager that your Plot Antennae are probably very close--given your history of guesses in other tales. ;-) We shall see. :-)

Yeah, poor Pip! He does miss having his papa at beck and call. He's on the verge of leaving childhood behind, yet in some ways he still is a child.

I wish I could comment on Paladin...lol, but I can't! ;-) I *can*, but it will ruin everything.

Thank you for stopping by to read!
