Little Lad Lost  by Citrine 5 Review(s)

....and a few licks about the shoulders with her umbrella"... I do have to admire the old gal. she may have been a frustrated social climber, but the girl and her umbrella stood up to ruffian men twice her size during the Troubles. By this time she had lost Otho, and even for a sharp tongued person like her, Lotho must have been a disappointment. Because of the ruffian men he invited into the Shire, even once she got her beloved Bag End she was not able to enjoy it very long. And in the end, she even lost Lotho. You have made her real and sympathetic. And your Posy is such a dear. I have no doubt that some time soon she will go to Bag End with the booties and have tea with the Gamgee children. There must have been some good hearts like her in the Shire for the four Travelers to have thought there was something worth saving. And you have Frodo trying to thank her with the same respect with which he later assisted her and her umbrella out of the Lockholes, to the cheering of the gathered Hobbits. Well and sweetly done!

That is a great ending to this Citrine. Like all good humour there is an element of blackness, of saddness to it too.

Well, all's well that ends well, and Lobelia is stuck with only Lotho, but at least she's not a cradle-snatcher, thanks to Frodo's "diplomacy". *grin*

I love the image of Merry "shaking her hand like a pumphandle"--I could just see that!

Dear me! I'm sorry to see this end, but I suppose it could not realistically have been dragged out much longer. *sigh*

Weeeeell, no. But I foresee a possible epilogue;-)

Oh Citrine, this was so sweet!! To see Lobelia being even the least bit sweet was such a different thing. And the end, with her thinking sadly of all of wee Pippin's baby-ness was perfect. A wonderful tale indeed :)

Author Reply: Thanks, Pearl! Shoot, this is Pippin we're talking about here-who *wouldn't* fall in love with the little rascal, even Lobelia? Even the grouchiest old b...er, broad...er, dame can have a soft spot.
