This is very powerful - and quite horrific. I am glad that Denethor wished to be reassured that all was well with Faramir before he was willing to follow Finduilas and Boromir. And that he chose to leave before the healers had to start removing parts of his anatomy.

I am sure that they will be waiting for Faramir when he arrives - a long time from now.

Author Reply: Thank you! Fortunately for them, the time before Faramir arrives will likely pass in a flash.

Personally I like this very much. Very, thoughtful, and at least he is able to not remember the guilt.

Author Reply: Thank you! I'm sure there's guilt at some point; right now he's too concerned with Faramir's welfare.

Exquisitely heart-rending. At first, I was confused - how could Boromir's voice be so low - too low for the child he was when Finduilas lived. And then the horror became apparent.

The feet were particularly effective! Created a true sense of the macabre.

Excellent tale!

Author Reply: Thank you! I do enjoy taking the creepy route from time to time, and this was particularly challenging, so I'm glad it worked!

This is truly chilling. It was just as well it didn't really happen.Very well written

Author Reply: Thanks! As I've said other places, I know that it's an *extremely* unlikely scenario, but the plot bunny was too tempting to pass up. :)

This was amazing, and disturbing - and WOW. Would've actually been a much more horrible way to die than burning to death - being rescued with greater than 90% surface area burns in an era with no decent burn units, his chances of actually surviving the infections and the amputations would've been almost nil. Wow.

Author Reply: Thanks! Eeek, medical person! :D
The unlikeliness is precisely why I stayed so vague about actual damage and infection. I did some research on herbal treatment of burns, and decided to skirt the details in favour of the creepy factor.
