| You have made Luthien sound so wise and fit to be the daughter of Melian in truth. I agree with her that does it not sound strange to begin a war over jewels even if they contain the light of the Two Trees that shall never after be... I like the wisdom that you give her when she realizes that though their son shall inherit a precious heirloom, that very heirloom will ruin and kill him. Namarie... Author Reply: Thank you. | It appears that the Silmaril tended to bring out the worst in everyone, and having passed through Morgoth's keeping kept a curse of destruction about it that tended to bring death to all who coveted it.
