Light from the West  by Armariel 3 Review(s)
LarnerReviewed Chapter: 52 on 1/22/2007
Elrond DID take one of the Palantiri with him, after all....

Is this that kind of visistation?

Nice to see the other side of the communications.

Author Reply: I was thinking there was still a palantir in the Tower of Ecthelion, and figured, yes, maybe it could light also, and what was once evil could be cast out of it to be replaced by the light of truth, just as one who is redeemed from wickedness is filled with the Divine. And so the Tower of Ecthelion could be the antithesis of Sauron's. Frodo's dream of the lights being joined probably stemmed from movie Saruman's remark about the "union of the Two Towers." Call 'em the Two Other Towers....

I thought the glimpse of life from the other side of the sea might provide a welcome interlude, since the story of the wedding is recounted in "Anemone" I saw no need to repeat it all and was wondering how to smoothly achieve the transition from before the wedding to after. This chapter provided the solution.

Isn't that wonderful that Aragorn and Arwen know of Frodo's joy also - how very thoughtful of Sam to pass on the news - and of course know they know another little one is coming too. Love Elrohir's comment about Frodo's Elvish side taking over and Arwen's comment about how good a poet he is. :)

Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Author Reply: Well but I hope his elvish side doesn't take over completely...I'd like him to keep a good bit of hobbit in him as well and gonna make sure he does! In spite of being surrounded by almost everything else BUT hobbits!

Really badly wanted A & A to know about Frodo's joy and the coming baby, didn't want them to have to just wonder all their lives. I thought at first of having some sea-person pass on the news but then thought, well, why not have Sam do it? Sure, why not? Makes a lot more sense.

Good to see this from the other side of the pond - er - Sundering Seas.

It would be a great relief to Aragorn and Arwen to know that not only Frodo, but also Elrond and Celebrian were happy in their lives in the west.

And I like the suggestion implicit (I hope) in the end!

Good for Sam. He wants the truth known - but he is prepared to look foolish to bring his message of hope to those who share his love for Frodo.

Author Reply: Yes, I was getting concerned about Aragorn and Arwen, wishing to reassure them and their relations and friends that their parents and Frodo had indeed found joy in the West. And perhaps Frodo was allowed his communication with Sam not only for Sam's comfort but to send him the message that the truth must be made known to all and not distorted. A savior's work is never done, it seems!

Thought it might be premature of me to strongly hint that the coming child would be a girl etc....but this author got a little impatient, I suppose! haha

The glow at the top of the, er, two towers is, I should say, the answer to Sauron's eye. I'm sure all readers have figured that out by now! lol
