Light from the West  by Armariel 3 Review(s)
LarnerReviewed Chapter: 17 on 8/17/2006
The painful truth told, and unwanted. But Aredhel is no better than she should be, after all. Salme is far better, better by far.

Author Reply: Perhaps someday the lovelorn suitor will see that...;);)

It's hard to learn the truth, to be too blind to see it, hopefully Rhudie will though and now that Frodo is only speaking out of friendship. He certainly had his own blind spots, you could have screamed at him until you were hoarse that it was not his fault what happened with claiming/being claimed at the Fire, but would have have believed you? Not until his eyes and heart were open and unburdened as he is trying to open R's eyes. I do admire him for his efforts, though I don't like Rhudie myself.

Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Author Reply: Yes, Love is blind and Guilt is hard of hearing;)

And characters often have minds of their own--just when I think I'm done with good ol' Rudie and try to dismiss him, he keeps popping in again, silly bugger!--and asking for ONE more scene, just one...and another...and another....Oh well, nothing to do but let him have his way. Keeps Frodo on his toes at least *g* All in a day's work for a Peacemaker!

Aredhel sounds a bit of a brat. Hopefully time will improve her - but she needs a bit of suffering to rub off some of her corners and rid her of her self-centredness. Her great-grandmother, on the other hand, sounds as if she could do with a few more layers to heal her.

I'm not surprised Rûdharanion is decidedly miffed - no-one takes it too well when a friend comes out with rather too much criticism of a beloved. But he is intelligent - if flattered - and might well see Aredhel's less attractive side if he starts looking harder.

Oh dear - Frodo has a cunning plan. This could stir things up somewhat!

Author Reply: Oh yes, how to tell a person his/her beloved is really a rat is always a nasty dilemma...been there, too chicken to do that, hope I never have to go there and do it again! Hopefully Rûdharanion is not seriously in love, just infatuated and is already beginning to see for himself and might grow less willing to overlook the obvious. And hoping that Frodo's idea works out.....
