Awakening  by Lily Dragonquill 5 Review(s)
demeter dReviewed Chapter: 1 on 5/8/2006
Just getting around to reading this. Sight and sound and smell, and lovely, peaceful memories. they all have changed, of course. he did not recognize the
majestic king as his old friend Strider. I felt as if I was there with your characters. When reading your work, I often forget thet English is not your first language! I found several very complex, well worked out sentences. Amazing, dear!

Author Reply: I have very patient betas who are an amazing help in improving my language and writing skills.

I'm glad you liked this one. I was overjoyed to be able to write so much sensation into a story without bothering anyone with "too much". :)

Nice work, Lily. It was heartening to see Frodo go from fire and ash to fresh air and clean water, and see the change in his spirit with it.

well done.

Lily, you *have* a way of writing things that is really fantastic! Such vivid images, so that you can see and smell and feel the beauty of Ithilien.

"I do not belong there anymore," the young one whispered and Frodo shuddered at the memory of loneliness and despair that had gripped him after his parents' death.

Oh, I know that lonely little child! But he made his way, he found lots of friends on his way. And those friends are worth living for.

It is wonderful to see Frodo so joyful, exploring the world as if he's never seen it before - and to hear his laughter!

Author Reply: Laughter... one hears him laugh far too seldom.

Oh, I know that lonely little child!
Too well, my dear... we know him too well. *sighs sadly*

Thank you, Andrea. I'm glad you enjoyed this one. It was important for me to give him some peace after awakening. He has still so much pain to go through, he deserves a little peace.

A wonderful possibility of Frodo's waking. I can see it all, althought I chose to write it differently. But this is beautiful and heartening.

Dear Frodo, waking to learn what his actions and decisions have wrought in the world.

Author Reply: Thank you. I chose to give him a peaceful moment. There is enough of pain and worry for him later - and before. Glad you liked it anyhow.

Ooo! I get to be first! :)

This is beautiful, Lily! The descriptions are so very vivid; I could almost feel what Frodo was feeling. And it was delightful to see his awakening and see him learning how to live over again. And the end is so peaceful.
God bless,
Galadriel

Author Reply: Thank you, Galadriel! I enjoyed giving him a peaceful awakening. He certainly deserves it.
