that an absolutely lovely story. I am so glad Marigold pointed us in this direction. I am off to read your others now.

Author Reply: Thank you! I feel so honored that Marigold chose it as one of her Best Bets--I'm still getting over the shock :) I hope that you enjoy my other fics as much as you liked this one & stay tuned for more!

A wonderful first-time story, you have very much captured the sort of dynamic I have pictured at work in Brandy Hall, and in Frodo's relationship with his loving, but frustrated, guardians.

I noted that you indicate 11-13 as the human equivalent of Frodo's age. It would be closer to the 13 end of the scale. As Larner suggested, maybe a bit big for Bilbo's lap--but you are correct that he might not have yet experienced his tween-age growth spurt. So, I can see it as possible, though a mite uncomfortable for Bilbo. But I doubt he was thinking of his own comfort when his lad was in distress.

For your future reference, I made a chart with the Hobbit/Man age equivalents. You can find it here:

Author Reply: Cool! Thanks for the link--you must've spent a lot of time figuring all that out. It will most definitely come in handy for some of my other fics that I will post soon. Thank you for the kind review! You too, are one of my favorite hobbit writers & and sources of inspiration for hobbity tales. ~Julie~

There, nestled on Bilbo’s lap and cuddled against the older hobbit’s chest, was Frodo. The recently-turned tweenager was sound asleep, a look of utter peace and contentment on his small, fair face. A tiny smile graced the lad’s lips, revealing the two small dimples on his rosy cheeks.

Saradoc watched as Frodo let out a big sigh and snuggled deeper into the warmth of the blanket and his Uncle Bilbo, one small hand clutching tightly onto Bilbo’s richly brocaded vest. Saradoc shook his head in amazement at the sight before him.

What a sweet, loving scene. Truly, these two were meant for one another.

Author Reply: They really were meant for each other, weren't they. I really appreciate your review,Shirebound, as you are one of my favorite LOTR writers to read, & one of those who inspired me. Thank you!

Wow Elemmire, if that was your first LOTR piece then it was excellently done and I am looking forward to more. You have painted a great word picture of Frodo's history through other people's eyes and F & B asleep in the library is so sweet.

Author Reply: Thank you very much for such a nice review, Harrowcat!!! I'm looking forward to posting more soon & I hope you enjoy them as well.

At twenty-one going on twenty-two, I doubt Frodo would be as small as a child--he'd be more likely to be approaching his full height, in fact, being the equivalent of one in mid-teens for most Men. So, I'd have Bilbo help support Frodo back to the Hall and then have him lying on the sofa with his head and shoulders in Bilbo's lap rather than carrying him and having Frodo curled up in his lap. Suspect Frodo was a bit too tall for those situations.

Other than that, I love this.

Author Reply: Thank you for leaving my first review! You made me realize that I indeed forgot to list Frodo's age in my summary & I have since corrected it. Since the average height of a hobbit is 3'6", I picture a young Frodo being around 2'6" maybe. Think of it this way, he hasn't had his growth spurt yet :) That, and the fact that I really wanted to capture his content with being with Bilbo finally. I really do appreciate your comments, however, and again I thank you for your review! ~Julie~
