yikes, Boromir's hurt now!

Amandil was stupid to encourage his men to kill Boromir; that would only infuriate the rest of Gondor and still leave an heir to the Stewardship alive. He'd have done better to promise mithril for Indis' death, or even Imrahil's.

Amandil got off too easy; he should have had weeks of incarceration, followed by a quick trial and then a shameful public execution.

Poor little Faramir; desperately anticipating being with his brother again, only to see him fallen. And Boromir...sob.

Oh, Boromir! Must your brother indeed follow his father as Steward, but at such cost?

Author Reply: There is still hope - Aragorn says.... but I wonder.

The Stewards have always paid a high price for something that doesn't carry any benefits but sitting at the foot of a throne that was thrown away by a king whose pride mattered more to him than his people or his kingdom.

And they said Denethor was proud!!!
