Bill Ferny?!? Unexpected indeed. Well written one-shot.

Hi! This was a very cute little story! And it's good to see you here as well! You know, this wasn't the first story I read in which Aragorn finds someone in the woods lost, or simply wondering, but they are always so cute, and then he is 87 at the time of LotR, so he can meet almost any of the characters as a child! :o)

Author Reply: Thank you! It was fun to write this and it was in response to a challenge on the Aragorn Angst board. I've never written anything so short... I'm not sure I could ever write a drabble. :) I actually started out to write something that went along with my current story and then this just popped into my head as I wrote.

“I don’t know! I didn’t do anything,” he sounded more confused than angry.

Oh really? But then the bully has often been bullied first! Great little story.

Author Reply: Yes, the bully has often been the viction of bullying himself and it becomes a vicious cycle that is hard to break. Thanks for your review, harrowcat!

This is a lovely story. Villains don't always start that way. Sometimes they're just dealt a harsh hand in life and don't know how else to play it. It's easy to picture Bill Ferny becoming brutish to protect himself from the bullies. It doesn't excuse his later behavior, but it does explain it.

Author Reply: No, what happens to Bill doesn't excuse his later behavior, we still have to make choices in our lives no matter the circumstances we are born into or the things that happen to us as children. Those can be tough things to overcome at times. Thanks for your review.
