A Merry Beginning  by Lily Dragonquill 5 Review(s)

Aaaaawww! That is soooo sweet! I've seen Frodo's first meeting with newborn Merry many different ways, and this is one of the best! As usual, the descriptions are glowing. Merry must have been such a cute baby! :) And Frodo is going to be a wonderful older brother. Yes, those two are brothers of the heart.
God bless,
Galadriel

Author Reply: Thank you, dear. I'm glad you like my view of this first moment between Frodo and Merry.

Sweet, warm, lovely! One of your reviewers indicated they had seen stories where saradoc and Esmerelda were not good to Frodo. i have never seen any of those, and i will not go looking for them. i agree that for Merry and Frodo both to have become the happy, caring people they were as grown-ups, they had to have had a loving beginning. Thank you for the loving peek at their beginning.

Author Reply: I have seen several stories where Frodo is treated badly by his foster parents but never finished a single one. It's just something I cannot imagine. As you say, to become the responsible caring grown-ups they are, they need positive support. Thank you for reading and commenting.

What a sweet story! Merry came along at the right time to lighten Frodo's heart, and this was a perfect introduction.

How nice to see Saradoc and Esme being kind and gentle - I have read stories where they are horrible to Frodo, but I don't believe that. He would never have had such a loving relationship with Merry if Merry's parents had been cruel, and Merry would not have been the brave, caring hobbit he undoubtedly was.

Author Reply: I agree. I cannot picture Saradoc and Esme being anything but loving and caring. Thank you for commenting.

Suddenly Frodo's smile grew wider, and Saradoc saw his eyes sparkling as he had not seen them do in almost two years.

"I shall call you Merry."

Aw! This is so sweet!
They are indeed brothers in heart. And there are many traits that they have in common, like real brothers would have.
Frodo and Merry have always been my two favorite hobbits!

Thank you, Lily :)

They are. Their (foster) parents have formed them.
