And you left me hanging

Oh Anso! What a fantastic story so far. I love your descriptions of Merry's wandering in the desert and his giving into the darkness - slowly -. This is just great writing. It's filled with angst, friendship, family love and the family members and friends of the Brandybucks really come to life for me in this piece. But, well I am curious what will happen next... especially when you are leaving us with such a line!

Author Reply: Hi! Thank you for such an encouraging and wonderful review. I think I have a bit more of the story lying around but I haven't finished it (and I don't know when that will be). I shall put the remaining story up now if I can find it. It won't give you all answers but it will provide an answer to the ending of this chapter though. ;)

He looked at her searchingly. “Mum! You are in pain. What are you doing here?”

Esmeralda shook her head. If anyone in her family was perceptive, it was her Merry.

That is true! Merry is the most perceptive person, I've ever known. Well, I did not really knew him, but I would have liked it ;-)
That was a wonderful moment of peace and quiet between mother and son. I'm really glad that the Shadow is gone, I would like to say "for ever", but I'm not so sure if this was the last battle.

“Lads,” Saradoc said gravely, looking each ot them in the eye. “We have a problem.”

That doesn't sound good! What could have happened? Please update soon!

Oh I am so glad that Merry is better and has made that promise to Pippin.

“Lads,” Saradoc said gravely, looking each ot them in the eye. “We have a problem. Anso's internet conncetion is being very tenuous and she isn't able to post our story as often as she would like. This means her loyal readers are fretting about her, and all of the rest of us too. What can we do to help?”

*Harrowcat grins sympathetically and slinks back into the virtual woodwork quietly with tongue in cheek!*

I enjoyed Esmeralda's thoughts as she waited for Merry to wake up. I also liked the way she insisted on sitting with him in spite of her own injury. Great chapter but now you have me wondering what trouble is in store for everyone at this point? What a cliff-hanger!

Oh, dear, another problem? Just when things are finally looking up? Oh, dear.

Oh my. It was going so splendidly up until that last sentence!

I love your Esme. She is such a warm, loving and supportive mother, and her thoughts and tenderness for her son are shown so beautifully.

I also love the encounter with Pippin.

That is one of the things I like the most about your stories, Anso, is all the love and heart they show. Even through sorrow and angst there is joy and comfort underneath, because all know they are loved and valued.
