| lovely portrayal of Gimli, and so in character as he approaches the imposing elf, but never fails to be himself. Interesting that hint of the sea longing at the end, knowing that he ends up there himself. Well done! | |

| Hi! Loved this fic, and the generosity of Gimli in it. To offer the one gift he holds above all else out of compassion for a lonely hushband - wonderfully done! | I remember this! I love the Gimli point of view - and the elven perspective on time and sacrifice. Celeborn and Gimli are probably surprised to find themselves with so much in common at this time. This could be the start of a most unexpected friendship! | |

| Wow. This is just beautiful. The simplicity of the tone is what truly resonates and elevates this vignette into a masterpiece. Neither Celeborn nor Gimli say much, and that makes what they DO manage to put into words all the more powerful. "It is as if all the light is gone from the world..." how beautiful, and still true to Gimli's voice. And the ending, when Gimli understands what it means to long for a land across the sea, is incredibly poignant. Marvelously done. | |
