Starlight at Eventide  by Ariel 6 Review(s)

You lifted my evening. A wonderful scene, I could smell the crushed grass under the feet of the dancers.

The sweetness of the sorrow that is Arwen’s and Merry’s *sigh*.

Sweet sorrow - the best kind of angst! I am pleased you enjoyed this scene as well.

A wonderful reawakening of the passion and the acceptance of mortality. Arwen knows she must lose her husband before she follows after, and is in the position to advise Merry, while he can mirror the same advice back to her. May the reawakening be joyful for him and Estella.

I certainly hope so!

Wow, philosophy and romance…a tricky combination that I’m not sure many could have brought off as well as you did here. I liked that while you could have ended with the kiss, you didn’t, ending instead on a poignant note.

Loved the tribute to Frodo, of course! ;)

ps—there’s a line break in Aragorn’s speech: “It grieves me beyond measure that…”

Author Reply: LOL! Well, you know me, the angst maven. The kiss ending has been done. I never look back. ;)

And thanks for catching that line break. I don't know where these goofs come from between cutting and pasting, but they sure show up.

Oh my! This is lovely. Well done Arwen and ladies all! What a vision to be confronted with. I love your descriptions Ariel.

Heheh! I've been told they tend towards the purple, but I'll let you in on a secret, I like them too! LOL! OK, so maybe I'll never write professionally, but fanfic is more fun anyway! Thank you for reviewing!

How wise the women were, to set it up so that Merry would discover for himself what he needed to know and to feel.

Very astute on your part, to draw the parallel between Merry and Arwen's probably outliving their beloved partner and having to balance the moment of having with the future of loss.

Honestly, that one just evolved. I knew I would have them both in the scene and it was like an epiphany to realize they were both going to have the same sorrow some day. I am glad you liked it!

Oh.
Oh my.
This was incredibly beautiful.
There aren't any other words for it.

Who says nobody wants good, old fashioned romance anymore? ;)
