All Is Well  by Gryffinjack 4 Review(s)

Ah, if only it had been just a dream....

Author Reply: Things would have been much simpler that way, wouldn't they? And Frodo would have had a happy life in the Shire.

Unfortunately, Pippin's gift of the Tookish Sight is never wrong. But then again, Middle-earth *was* rid of a powerful evil that had been oppressing many of its peoples, so I doubt that Frodo, Merry, Pippin, or Sam would want to change things for anything.

Oh I like this, Gryffinjack!! It all starts so innocently enough and ends up quite different.

Off to read "All Is Not Well"!

Author Reply: Thanks! I'm afraid little Pippin-lad has inherited the Took gift of Sight. I hope you enjoy All Is Not Well!

And this is just as delightful as when I first read it. I *so* love the actions between Gandalf and Pippin!

And now we shall have *lots* and *lots* of stories from you, right? *bounces*

Author Reply: I really enjoyed writing the interaction between Gandalf and Pippin, so I'm glad you liked it!

Lots of stories? I certainly hope so, between Marigold's monthly challenges and the plot bunnies waiting to be released.

All is well. It was only a dream.

I remember reading this elsewhere (your LJ?). On re-reading it has great deal of impact. There are so many loving details that bring the story to life, and make the reader feel "there".

Mmmm, I wouldn't mind being a guest at such a lunch! Roast chicken and all the trimmings, and strawberry tart for dessert!

(Gandalf didn't look like a wizard... I wonder just what a wizard would look like, in young Pippin's opinion?)

The battle is grippingly written, and from a new perspective: through the eyes of a five-year-old.

And the ending is haunting, especially to those who know what will happen a little more than a score of years in the future.

Thanks!

Author Reply: Yes, you read this story originally on my LJ. Thanks so much for liking it enough to post two reviews on it and thinking it has a great deal of impact!

The lunch does sound really good, doesn't it?!

I imagine Pippin would think that a someone as grand as a wizard should look magnificent and larger than life. But what does he find? An old man with grey hair wearing drab grey clothes! lol!

Little Pippin would see the battle much differently than he did when he grew up. And of course, he had no way of knowing that he would actually one day be in that battle.

I'm so happy that the ending had the effect that I was going for on you!

Thanks for reviewing!
