The Healer and the Warrior  by Madeleine 6 Review(s)

The attraction between them is very obviously pleasing. Loved what Eomer did to her after she woke him up. My favorite line of Lothy here is "that is why your back is so heavily muscled," and I thoroughly enjoyed the branding iron dialogue.

"Are you well?" What a question! She had just been jumped at by a mountain of dripping wet, naked man.
"Had I been marked by a hot iron, you surely would have noticed while visually examining me.” “Not if you were sitting on the mark.”

I am enjoying this very, very much. Well written and a different take on the Eomer and Lothiriel relationship is always appreciated. I am looking forward to the next chapter.

Author Reply: It is always good to hear that somebody is enjoying your stories. I hope you are going to like the continuation of the story arc.

And this chapter was just as well done as the first one. What lovely sexual tension! This was a true pleasure to read.

I spent my summers in college working on a road maintenance crew, and many of the men I worked with had been in Vietnam. I learned quickly never to walk up behind one and tap him on the shoulder! Poor Lothiriel... but poor Eomer more. I am sure he was appalled at himself.

One can tell that Lothiriel has grown up around sassy older brothers, and she handles Eomer with remarkable wit. I like this portrayal of her... and indeed, she is fitting for the culture she will marry into.

Author Reply: The idea of Éomer's reaction came when a friend of us who is married to a member of a special force unit warned us not to try to wake him in case he may fall asleep. We joked that she must live dangerously sharing a bed with him but she assured us that that is not a problem - he is used to her being there.

Just love the chemistry. Lothiriel responds to Eomer in such a natural way - she can hardly believe it of herself. Even when he has just done his best to kill her, she carries it off. I'm not surprised he is impressed. I doubt that - with the exception of Eowyn - he has met many girls who are confident enough to put him in his place. Or, indeed, who are so competent in their area of expertise. Love it.

Author Reply: I don't think she had realized that she had been nearly killed. She wouldn't react much differently if a big dog had jumped up on her.
