Hot Summer Night  by Garnet Took 4 Review(s)

Pippin being extremely hot during the summer heat was a very nice and new twist on things! I liked the bit of Pippin debating with himself over swimming in the fountain...cute. :-) Thanks again for sharing!

Author Reply: I'm still not sure just where this story came from. It was just one of those there-it-was-so-it-had-to-be-written things. I did toy with the idea of him at least dangling his feet in the fountain, but thought better of it. That is a very important icon in Gondorian sociaty so I don't think even Pippin would do anything that could be seen as desicration a momunent.

I must confess that I had way too much fun writing this.

What a nice conversation! I love it when the Big Folk take the hobbits seriously, and treat their concerns with respect. And this is just my favorite line of all:

The king’s concern was genuine and deep. There was no possible way that Pippin could answer him with anything but the truth.

Author Reply: Thank you, Shirebound. I love it, too, when the hobbits are taken seriously. I get so annoyed when one of the Big People, especially someone who knows them, talks to them like they're five years old or something.

Thanks you so much for reading it, and commenting.

I'm with Pippin over the propblem of hot weather. Give me a nice frosty morning and a warm fire at night! Nice tale!

Author Reply: I still have to laugh: I wrote this story last Spring, before it got hot, and I have no idea why. For the most part, I don't mind hot weather. So when the idea just popped into my head very late one night, I was totally shocked. My only guess is that Pippin really wanted this tale told.:)

thanks.

I remember enjoying this one in the Challenge and I enjoyed reading it again. I love the way that Aragorn helps Pippin with his problem without making him feel bad about it all. I also always laugh when Pippin willingly agrees to take the sleeping draught in the tea. He must have really been feeling uncomfortable to agree to that! Thanks for writing a story that I can enjoy again and again and again and .....

Author Reply: I'm so glad you really like this one. It was a fun story to write. I really believe that Pippin was one very desperate hobbit; that's the only reason he would have taken any medicinal draught. I'm just glad Aragorn turned up when he did, before Pippin got into serious troubel over this little problem.

thanks for reading. I love your stories, so a comment from you is a real honor.
