Under the Trees of Greenwood the Great  by MarigoldG 6 Review(s)

I'm sitting here all weepy. I do the same thing. I brought some stones home from my trip to England and Scotland. It must be the Took in me ;)

A wonderful tale indeed :)

Author Reply: It must be! That is wonderful Pearl! : )

I am so glad that you liked the story! Thank you : )

Delightful. Minimalists will never understand it! Little objects carry so many memories. I'm glad Pippin found his hoard - and that Merry has started one of his own.

Author Reply: They do indeed! A ticket stub, a little umbrella from a cocktail, a pressed flower...or a rock. Anything that will tweak your memory... : )

Thank you so much for reading and reviewing!

Yes, wonderful means of remembering.

Author Reply: Thank you! I think so too, and have several very special rocks of my own : )

Awwww... This is a sweet story, so true to our lads' characters. It is just right that Pip would do something like this, and Merry would question it, being of a more practical turn of mind. I enjoyed the reiteration of their journey thus far, and Pippin's slight defensiveness when drilled about rocks and trees. The end was just perfect, for isn't that why we collect useless things? For the happiness they remind us of. Lovely story!

Author Reply: Thank you so much Budgie, for such a lovely review! I am so glad that you liked the story!

Oh, this is just precious. I can relate so well to Pippin using the stones as markers for memories. I do the same things, but I use songs; less bulky, but much more random.

I'm also glad that Merry could loosen up enoght to copy his younger cousin's behavior.

Oh, I hope there is more of this story to come. This is a nice counterpoint to the first chapter, but it fits well with it. It's nice to see the light and dark and the shades in between in the events and relationships in piople's lives, and this story is doing that.

Thanks.

GT.

Author Reply: Thank you Garnet! I think that is one of the qualities of their relationship, that Pippin helps Merry to loosen up, and Merry helps Pippin to settle when he needs to.

There will be more to the story! Random glimpses of various high (and low) points of their Adventure : )

Thanks for reading and reviewing!

Oh this is just perfect Marigold. I collect stornes too and for that very reason but my difficulty is in remembering where i collected them. *g* But I want to hear about the rest of the adventure now!

Author Reply: I have the same difficulty! The only two in my collection that I can really remember is one from a beach in Lancashire that has an outline of a dwarf weathered into it, and a lovely grey shiny one that KnittedPippin picked up in Scotland and named Peter for some reason : )

Llinos looks upon my picking up rocks much like Merry used to look at Pippin - she is the more practical one!

Thanks for reading and reviewing, and more parts will come, I promise!
