The Joy of One  by Legolass 10 Review(s)

How I would love to have a friend half as loyal and loving as Legolas. Too bad he's only a figment of Tolkien's imagination. Truth be told, I would want him to be more than a friend. Tehehehe! Aren't I wicked?

Sigh.... don't we all wish for a friend like Legolas.... but who says he's only a figment of Tolkien's imagination? He's real to me, mm-hmm! :-)

And if you want him as more than a friend - I'm afraid you'll have to battle thousands of others for him, lol!

Thank you for this review.

That was beautiful! Simply breathtaking!
It left me feeling joyful and understanding the breadth of their friendship for each other.
I love the strong friendship of theirs! Esspecially in the light of one being human and the other being an elf.
I'll deffinately be coming back to read this again.
Mmmmm I love the depth of emotion that you put in your story. It really makes them come alive.

Tiari - thank you, I'm glad the emotions of this little reflection of Legolas' came across for you. :-) Legolas and Aragorn are so real for me that it's wonderful when others feel them to be 'alive' as well.

Do I have to tell you that I loved this story?! I'm really glad you wrote it for the Teitho contest (especially if it had not been written otherwise!). Now I can tell you that you had my first-place-vote, too. :) This story is so touching, beautiful, and also sad that I simply have to love it.

"As they have done countless times before, our thoughts touch, and he does not have to hear my voice to understand what I am saying to him" - I just love it how you describe the bond between the both of them. I perhaps told you already about 100 times in "For the Love...", but I'm still happy whenever I see a sentence like this! Hehe.

You have intensified the sea-longing, haven't you? Poor elf! *deep sigh* I loved the image of Aragorn's hand on his shoulder sharing his happiness and love. *sigh*

"It told me that our true happiness – Aragorn’s and mine – lay not in a shining Land of Light nor a grand City of Stone, not in eternal sunshine nor the richness of changing seasons – but in the love and purity of our friendship, and in the steadfastness of each other’s company." - This is the one most touching, beautiful, wonderful, sweet, great... sentence that made this story especially special for me. *g* It shows the wonderful power of this friendship in a way that sums up everything. *sniffle*

"His simple, heartfelt need of my friendship cut into my soul deeper than any torment from the Sea-longing." *melting*

"I will place my comfort in the palm of the friend I love, I will feel contentment in the ease of his smile, and I will find my solace in the peace of his human heart." If you see a wet puddle on the floor somewhere, that is a certain reviewer, so please don't step on it! I will stop now before I dissolve permanently or quote your whole story... *g* After all, I have another update to read today. *bounces, rubs hands and runs off*

Tinu :)

What a wonderful story of love, friendship and sacrifice! I loved every word and my admiration for your writing just grows and grows. You have an amazing talent and I will never tire of your obsession for Aragorn & Legolas!

Thank you, Alison, I'm glad it touched you like it was meant to. :-)
I think you are the first person to point out my 'obsession' *eeeep* - and you're right. Gosh what am I to do???? keep writing I guess...

This was a wonderful story and very well told (it would be for anyone, but for a first effort, it is exceptional).

I think you captured Legolas's feelings perfectly. It's how I would imagine he felt, which you described in rich detail.

This was my #1 choice in the Teitho voting and will go on my favorites list. Congratulations. I look forward to many more stories from you.

BTW, will you be writing a Boo! story at Teitho this month? I hope so.

Thanks so much for your kind words, White Wolf and for your vote.

I hope I didn't give you the wrong impression: it WAS the first story I'd ever written for the contest, but I'd also written a couple of other stories since January this year. Don't know if you've read 'For the Love of the Lord of the White Tree' - now, that truly was my first fanfic and the one I shall hold dearest in my heart. I think it gave me the impetus to write everything else (including The Joy of One and ONce Upon a Strongbow).

It was only in September that I plucked up enough courage to try submitting something at the Teitho site. *sheepish grin* As for the Boo contest: I have an idea, but must try to find the time. I am going too slowly with "In Shadow Realm" as it is. :-)

BTW - I think I have been reading one of your stories: Dragonfire or something... is that yours?

Anyway - thank you again. :-)

I've said before that I love the way you write the friendship between Legolas and Aragorn. Here's another example of it. The way you set it up, with only a picture of the sea affecting Legolas so strongly, makes it all the more moving. Beautiful story, Legolass. ~TF

And in the eyes of the Mariner, in his quiet smile, is seen the serene elation of one who has found his Home.

This is an utterly beautiful story. What an insightful, amazing insight into the heart and soul of an Elf who gives his friend the greatest gift he has.

Thank you, Shirebound. It was a great gift indeed.

Of his friends from the quest, Legolas is the only one he can count on to remain till his own end. Boromir is already gone,Frodo goes too soon, and slowly the others follow, Sam to the West, then Eomer, then Sam and Frodo most likely further at a time similar to that of Merry and Pippin....

We need the continuity.

"We need the continuity."

I concur, and Aragorn himself was "loath for the Fellowship to be dissolved" {ROTK). He would have been utterly dismayed if every single one had left him after all they had been through together.

Thanks for dropping in.
