What a great way to account for Merry and Pippin having lembas in their pockets! And the great gift the cousins have of cheering up Frodo . . . even though they don't get to share their gift with him in Mordor.

Well Done! Well Done!!

Author Reply: Thank you!

Even though my next multi-chapter story is post-Quest, they'll (kind of) get their chance!

*cryptic grin*

Oh...My...God...(pants)...hurrying...wait....on...to...last (sob) ... chapter.

Sorry it's taken so long...I am so far behind on my reading. But tonight I am reading like a starving woman....so now on to the next chapter. Hugs you!

Ahhh! How sweet of Merry! It's really cool how in this story you show Boromir gradually being corrupted by the Ring. And I like how you show that it wasn't the normal Boromir who was thinking all those things. For all of his corruption and attacking Frodo for the Ring and all that, Boromir was pretty cool. He did redeem his dignity in the end of the FOTR by trying valiantly fighting for Merry and Pip's safety. And Frodo also forgave him and knew that it was the Ring, because in the TT, he was troubled to find that Boromir had died. Sorry for the rambling. Hannon le, mell min! God Bless, Frodo Baggins

It is definitely dawning on all of them how serious this is becoming now. It was wonderful of Merry to distract Frodo like that but Boromir is really starting to feel the Ring talking to him. I can¨t wait to see what you come up with for the continuation of this. :D

How wonderful to find a distraction that worked, AND put the lembas in the Hobbits' pockets for when they needed it! Lovely! And Merry IS a genius of sorts!

I loved the way you showed Boromir's growing temptation in this chapter and also the different reactions to the statues.I wonder if any of them came that way again once Aragorn was King ?If this were a book,I'd say it was unputdownable !

Another wonderful chapter, Shirebound, filling in the gaps superbly - at last I feel I know why Merry and Pip had lembas in their pockets. I just figured they had snaffled some against possible midnight starvation! :-))

Boromir's thought were very chilling - the Ring is working on him now, poor man. And poor Frodo, knowing he has an awful decision to make.

Loved Gimli bouncing in the boat in his eagerness to see the Argonath. How typically Gimli!

Ah, wonderful. I do so love it when you weave little moments together that then explain some little detail from the books. Now we know why there is a packet of lembas in the pockets of both Merry and Pippin. Thank you, Shirebound!

What a great way to make sure two of our favourite hobbits have a little something in their pockets for later! And, yes, thanks, I am feeling a lot better even without the athelas! Happy Yule.

I'm a bit behind on reading and commenting, but very happily caught up now! I do love Gimli so much, and his conversation with Frodo was a delight to read. Poor Boromir! So tormented. I really enjoyed the riddle, and the way you explain how Merry and Pippin end up with lembas in their pockets- very clever!!
