The Green Knight and the Heir of Meduseld  by Le Rouret 9 Review(s)

Hi!

Wonderful to have you back and to read a new story about the Green Knight, aka the illoustrous Lord Laassah! BTW, I like that way, a lot, and I loved the description of how Legolas cared fro Faramirs children himself when they were ill. The poor Elf is clearly disappointed that he has no Little Ones of his own, but he dioes apparently marvellously with Faramir's children instead as doting uncle!

Now my little grain of salt: you know of course that following canon, Eomer and Lothiriel indeed *had* a son of their own, Elfwine, and he followed Eomer in his rule? But it will be interesting to see how Fastred has to deal with his new responsibilities in the end, nevertheless. Or will the birth of Elfwine be the very thing that get's him out of this pickle?

Anyway, I love this story and I'm going to enjoy it immensely, as I do all stories of yours!

An interesting story--one that is totally AU, of course.

But the idea of wanting to run away to Legolas is fascinating.

*Throws back head and cheers uproariously..."Yeah!!! She's back!!!* As is The Green Knight, and immediately, you've reminded me of why I so enjoyed both "The Green Knight" and "My Dear Bandobras" - both the lovely "court language," as Lamiel so aptly described it, and the delightful, sweet interaction between Legolas and the children (or those "child-like," such as Bandrobras) around him. Seeing Legolas through the eyes of characters such as Bandobras or Fastred reminds me all over again of the utter wonder, beauty, and other-worldliness of the elves, and especially Legolas.

I am looking forward with eager anticipation to where you will head with this story...and I have no doubts it'll be as enjoyable as your previous works.

Welcome back!!

The Green Knight for Gondor! Yay, he's back. Well, not just yet, but your characterisation of Fastred is enough to hold me for now! What a wonderful chapter. I love the perspective you've written from. Fastred is definitely torn between childish wants and his daunting duties. I love the way he attempts to justify merging the two by convincing himself to go to Lord Lassah. Oh, that boy will be trouble!
Congratulations, and thank you for continuing the Green Knight's tale. All the best,

Oh, goodness. ^_^ I can see Fastred will be opening quite a can of worms in a bit.

I'm pleased to see you continuing this saga. You capture the realities of medieval court life better than anyone I've seen, and the courtly language is fun to read. Perhaps it isn't quite Middle-earth as Tolkien wrote it, but it's much better than the many anachronisms that creep into so many works by well intentioned but ignorant authors like myself.

Many people have commented on the discomfort of courtly dress, for example, but few point out the real hardships of being a prince. Being sent away from one's family to be raised with strangers, for example. Very scary, and you perfectly capture Fastred's fear, worry, and determination to behave as a prince should. Such a conflict of emotions and stress in one so young! I think that Legolas will be very sympathetic, having been raised as a prince himself, but I also suspect that Fastred won't be sheltered from the evils of court life quite as much as he hopes.

No, I think that Lassah may end up going to Rohan for a bit, provided he can escape the rule of his own colony for a while. Now that should prove interesting.

P.S. Loved this line, "he took him as seriously as he took the mortal adults of his acquaintance – thus, not at all." Excellent.

P.P.S. Please, no love interest for Legolas in this story. Right? Please. I don't think I can take it again.

Oh how marvelous a beginning you've got going here.

Poor Fastred! Not wanting to leave the home he's always known, I can sooo understand and in the petulance of youth deciding to run away to the one who spoiled him throughout his childhood. Hm, if I'd had "Lord Lassah" in my childhood I'd have run away to him too! *giggle*

I have missed your writing style for this 'verse and am so VERY glad you're back! *vbg*

I'd harp more on that and the story, but I have to scoot now and get ready to go into town. Errands to run and then the new hours at work will keep me away till about 1 a.m. and I'm a little bit late already. LOL Hope to chat more tomorrow. :)

Oh! Oh! Oh! How perfectly lovely!!

Now I am going to have to go back and check "My Dear Bandobras", to see where this falls on your timeline--before or after Bandy returns to his master? And I do so love sweet Fastred. What a wonderful and loving child he is! *sigh of contentment* and looking forward most anxiously to *next* Monday!!
