I love the way Pippin cheers Merry up in this one. I enjoyed it in the challenge but had to read it again over here.

Author Reply: Thank you! Pippin is very good at cheering up, isn't he?

What serious discussions for a lovely Spring day. I quite like seeing the serious side of Merry and Pippin in the Shire. I have enjoyed reading this Anso.

Author Reply: Thank you su much.

“It`s a baby pony. Of course it is small!” Pippin said. There were times Merry wasn't as bright as people would have him be.

Lol! I love how Pippin thinks Merry is just being obtuse, here. I like all your discussion of pony breeding. Just one suggestion for you; usually when talking about horse (and I think pony) parentage, the father is referred to as the sire and the mother is the dam.

I'm looking forward to more of this story. :D

Author Reply: Ah, thanks! I am glad you liked this. :D Merry is a smart one but he doesn't always think things through and Pippin does have a logic of his own, lol.

I enjoyed this chapter very much. I loved Pip's logic about the naming of ponies! That was very funny. I also like the effort that Merry is making to please his father and to support him while he is getting over his sadness. All of your pony information sounded believable to me and I liked Harry.

Author Reply: Thank you. Pippin does have his own logic about things, don't you agree? Merry looke so much up to his Da that he would go to great length to please him I think.

I love this. Such a nice interaction between Merry, Pippin and Saradoc. You show the closeness all three of them share, yet with Merry having a special understanding of his lively Tookish cousin. And Saradoc's pride in Merry is lovely to behold. I do enjoy stories that have the fathers and sons getting on well, and showing their affection and pride in one another, instead of the sometimes cliched conflicts that often drive the plots.

All your pony information sounded plausible to me, and I liked the bit where Pippin began to lose interest. Sounds like Pip to me! LOL!

I had to wait all day to read this, since I was gone most of the day--it was certainly worth the wait.

Author Reply: Thank you so much! They are really close I think, living with them so much as Pippin does. I think Merry and his Da has a very special relationship and I find it great fun to explore it.

So how did I miss this when it was posted? We wonders, yes we does my precioussss! Saradoc must have been bereft when our lads left. Are we going to get to see your take on it? I hope so!

Author Reply: :D Thank you! I might write that, I don¨t know. I haven`t really thought about it. Wait, I did. It is called "The Sun" and is a drabble, found in "From the Notebook". So yeah, I did. :D

I love the way that Saradoc is trying to prepare Merry for his future responsiblities without pushing him too much. I liked that he showed him the land and reminded him that it was his and also would one day be his responsibility. Looks like the lessons are off to a good start. I look forward to more.

Author Reply: Thank you! I have always liked Saradoc and I think he is much of the reason why Merry is like he is. :D

Have I told you lately that I love your Saradoc?
If not, consider yourself told. I really like the way this is going.
More, more.

Author Reply: Oh, thank you! :D

I am writing more this very moment...

What a wonderful start to a promising new story!

I've always had a soft spot for Old Rory, one of the few names on the family tree that actually had a couple of lines to speak in canon. I think he would have been a splendid Master, and a loving father and grandfather. I don't care much for stories that show him as tyrannical or senile.

I love the details you have put into the Master's study. That is one of the things that I love in your stories, the way you lovingly describe the rooms of Brandy Hall, whether Merry's room or Pippin's or now the Master's study. I could just *see* everything, and even almost smell the smells you describe.

A very good start and I look forward to updates!

Author Reply: Oh, thank you! I like exploring details, so I'm happy it worked I like Rory too, and I agree, I don't see him as that either.

Ever since my first story have I wanted to describe the Master's study. My first story starts with Merry sitting in that window seat and even if this takes place 14 years later it is sort of tying those stories together.

I enjoyed your descriptions of the study Anso. I enjoyed this and am looking forward to part two.

Author Reply: Thank you! I had much fun describing it too. :D
