Lessons in Life Taught by Hobbits  by Antane 7 Review(s)

It truly amazes me that so many people (apparently) cannot see what true heroism is. Yes, Aragorn and the rest of the Company, and the armies of Gondor and Rohan, and Eomer and Faramir (and Boromir) - they were heroes - but Frodo and Sam are penultimate. Your essay is excellent - I forwarded it to my sister, who hated reading until the day I introduced her to Lord of the Rings, many years ago.

Author Reply: Hannon le! I am honored that you thought my essay good enough to forward.

Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Antane, after writing and receiving some feedback on my own little essay, I had a sudden fear that I had unwittingly said (in simpler, less expressive words) what you had said in this, one of your greatest works. It is not so, but you did so much better than I! Oh, so much better! There is so much wisdom in this essay, it could be professional! It is a shining testemony of your faith and of so much more that I still cannot put into words. Namarie, and God bless,
Galadriel

This is fabulous. :) I wish more people would write things like this. Hopefully someday I'll post something similar, because for a long time I've intended to write a paper comparing LotR characters (especially Frodo) with Jesus.

Author Reply: Thank you!

Wow! Another Christian Frodo lover!! That was SOOOOO good! I feel the same way about Frodo! Thank you for writing that, it's very encouraging! Yours truly, Frodo Baggins

Author Reply: Thank you for all your kind words, Frodo! I'm very glad you enjoyed it!

One Step More: The Heroism of Frodo Baggins is one of the best essays on the subject I've read, and as a special ed teacher it has deep meaning for me. The URL is http://www.lightindarkplaces.net/EssayConnie.htm and it is one I think you will appreciate as well.

And part of the reason I think you will appreciate what I've written is because what you've written resonates so strongly in me.

Author Reply: Thanks for the link, Larner. Now that I've looked at it, I have read it before and loved it then and now. Connie Marie is a great writer. I love her tribute to Frodo, Bearer of the Ring, and her other stuff is great too.

Namarie, God bless,
Antane :)

Antane, this is beyond amazing!!! It is what I've been trying to say for years, but you have said it more eloquently than I ever could. Tolkien would, I think, be very glad to know that someone understands the two best characters in LOTR so well. I think the beautiful love and friendship between Frodo and Sam is the sweetest and best part of The Lord of the Rings, and you helped me to understand and appreciate it more than ever. Thank you so very much for this wonderful, inspiring essay that rings with so much truth!
God bless,
Galadriel

Author Reply: Thank you, Your Majesty! :) I greatly appreciate your very kind words!

There's another essay on the web in which a mother of a disabled child discusses why Frodo is her hero, and for most of the same reasons.

I think that much of what I've written will resonate with you.

Author Reply: Larner, do you know where I could find that essay?
