Author Reply: Thank you, Tari, I'm glad you shared this tribute with me - though I think this review was meant for the previous chapter instead of this one. :-)

OMG OMG OMG
quick! someone throw the guy a rope! Call the fire department! Has the parachute been invented yet? Call the eagles, quick! Somebody's got to do something! Anybody ... anything? Or whatever ... (running around in pointless circles)
Wait! Whaddaya mean, a couple of weeks? You don't intend to leave us here, suspended in mid-air, do you? No you don't ... DO YOU?!? *sob* evil!author ;-)
Throwing suspicious glance in the direction of the author's note: did I detect the faint hint of a smile here? Might it be possible that you are actually enjoying yourself about this?!? You'd better get back here and update this right now! I mean, Please! (doing a fair bit of grovelling) You can't really want a smashed king and a heartbroken elf...

My dear Rodent,

I'm back after a wonderful break in the States - you can imagine how upon returning home after two weeks, I am drowning in work to catch up on, so forgive me for sending out this standard reply to all reviewers - with a personal note thrown in when appropriate. It was so good meeting up with old friends, and the few days revisiting San Francisco were heavenly (despite the fog). I especially loved seeing the Redwood trees - the woods reminded me SO much of Treebeard and Fangorn forest.

THANK YOU so much for leaving me a review - I was delighted to be reminded how literal the cliffhanger was for Chapter 21. I apologise for heart attacks, chewed-off fingernails, fogged-up computer screens, etc. :-)

I will update as soon as possible, which, unfortunately, might not be for another week - so, "hang in there." Thank you for all the suggestions about parachutes, elf heroics, mattresses, etc.

Sad to say, none of those will do any good.

Only the next chapter will tell whether Aragorn... you know... survives.

Thank you again. Gotta get back to work and to ponder the fate of a falling King and an elf whose heart is close to breaking...

p.s. "Throwing suspicious glance in the direction of the author's note: did I detect the faint hint of a smile here? Might it be possible that you are actually enjoying yourself about this?!?"

---- 'Moi' - enjoying the distress of agonised readers?? No!! *shaking head too vigorously to be believed* :-D

Nooooo, quick throw the man a rope, or a parachute. Call out the fire department, with thier net. I don't suppose you could have had a mattress salesman set up shop, at the bottom. Do something, you must not have a smushed king.

Well Met Legolass,

Aahh, life is good. I have a back seat at my orc-torture session and a new post in my favorite story. So I will keep my end of the bargain and review. Great chapter, I have a feeling that Lord Celeborn is going to figure out this mystery and when he does, it's not going to be pretty. Poor Legolas & Elrohir (poor me, I'm going to have a heart attack!!) even though he doesn't have the gift of foresight, he's got to be very worried that his worse nightmare is coming true.

Have a wonderful holiday, enjoy yourself and if you're on the east coast visit my home town. NYC, it's a great town
