Ooh! Scary nightmares and scary dwarf! Too much late at night - I had to go and hide under the covers and come back this morning to review! *g*

Lol! You were also the same one who hid under the bed and peered out at the laptop a few chapters ago, right? You are too cute!

Thanks for being brave enough to come back and post the review. :-)

You have a minor error here as you say "Eowyn excused herself and left, accompanied by her husband." but Faramir features quite prominently in the rest of the chapter. Also I don't think they knew about Eru, only the Valar.

I'm so glad to see that Aragorn is not badly hurt and hope those small cuts are not something sinister! Thank Goodness his friends finally stay with him,as they should have done all along, especially as beds in old inns would usually hold about six easily !

The dead are truly chilling and I can sense some nice angsty adventure ahead.I love the way all of aragorn's friends care about him. POcessed Gimli was truly chilling !

This is most enjoyable and i eagerly await each new chapter.

Hi, Linda:

Lol! I was puzzled over what you meant about the error at first, wondering if you'd objected to the use of the phrase "her husband" as somehow diminishing the 'prominence' of Faramir - THEN realised what you meant, and that you must have missed the return of Faramir in the following paragraph; it reads: "...just as Faramir returned and closed the door quietly." (I thought it would be nice if Faramir could at least see his wife back to their room first - the gentlemany, husbandly thing to do.) That line was there, but I guess his return was so quiet it wasn't even 'heard' :-)

As for not knowing about Eru - is that so? Hmmm... does the Silmarillion say the elves didn't? Must check - thanks for raising the point.

SIX on a bed?? What a vision! lol! Well, as Faramir explained earlier: none of them could have known that it would get this bad, and it would have seemed mighty funny that the strong King of Gondor would need his friends in his bedroom. :-) Kinda hard for them to even suggest it. But now they know.

Thanks for dropping in. :-)

This was a very creepy chapter and I loved it! The voices were certainly insistent and adamant that Aragorn listen--but they couldn't fend off Legolas' urgent summons that Aragorn return.I loved that.

Oh, and 'posessed Gimli' must have been a hoot to write! It was very enjoyable to read and I can't wait to see how Gimli deals with the consequences of him wanting to Aragorn!

So, Aragorn may have to go through the PotD again? Well, he won't be going alone for there is no way that Legolas will not shadow his every move.I just love the fact that, in your brilliant stories, both Legolas and Aragorn are willing to endure much hardship for each other.

Can't wait for more!

Ali.

I could swear I posted a reply to this - didn;t check to see if it went through - sorry!

Yes, I wouldn't have written anyone else calling Aragorn back - after all, the man called the elf back in "For the Love..." gotta have the balance. :-) And you're right again re the PoD: no way is Legolas going to let Aragorn go without him; as I told another reviewer, the likelihood of the moon turning red, blue and white would be greater.

And yes it was fun writing the possessed Gimli - that's going to be one angry dwarf next chapter.

Thanks for the review. :-)

You made Aragorn's dream sequence so real that I felt like waking up from a nightmare myself - slowly, slowly... Only I have never been called out of one by an elf *sigh*. That was very touching, Legolas' spotting the cuts to Aragorn's feet, never caring about the cuts he recieves himself. It's all those little details that reveal so much.
Mhm. I did think that it was not right that Gimli could sleep through all that ruckus, undisturbed. There should be one irate dwarf later in the morning ... they might want to hide the axe :-) If Aragorn has to return to the Paths of the Dead, as it seems, I wonder who will accompany him? There is probably no way that Legolas might be stopped from going with him, but will Gimli come, too? He did say, after all, that he would not go back for any friendship - but it is sort of a personal issue now, and he would not like to be left behind. I'm very curious. And there is even more bad news to come, it seems ....

PS Re your last response: I sincerely hope you like the sound of bullfrogs, because that's what it sounds like when I start singing - especially since one of those seems to have settled permanently in my throat. But I can do the watching - everybody knows how fierce and ferocious creatures squirrels are ;-) Yeah, I will do that *puffing up chest, revealing round, furry white tummy*

Hiya Rodent :-)

Everyone is waiting to see that irate dwarf in the morning lol! But you're right - there will be. As for whether he will return to the PoD hmmmm... we will see. ;-) Re Legolas not going, however, I think the likelihood of the moon turning red, blue and white would be greater. I think he'd die of worry over his friend.

Let's see -- a busy-tailed squirrel that sounds like a bullfrog -- there ought to be a story out of that. And what's in that round tummy? Chestnuts?

Lovely to hear from you, as it always is. :-) Where are you BTW? Europe? If it's the U.S., you're up late, you are. Need a singing elf?

Mmm, this reads like a good ghost story! I see the phial helps Aragorn, but it doesn't entirely keep the badness away. I like the visit of "posessed Gimli". Very creepy. I smell good, scary adventure ahead. ~TF

Well, I don;t know if it is meant to be 'scary' as much as it is suspenseful :-) - but yes, things are not over for ARagorn and company yet.
Thanks for continuing to stay with me.

Well met Legolass,

Didn't you "Yanks" just celebrate your thanksgiving holiday? I don't remember ghost stories as part of the holiday (LOL). Gimili is going to be one irate dwarf when he wakes up! I just can't figure out what is going to make him madder, that he missed all the action or that some thing had the audacity to possses him in the first place. I'm sure he will tell you (loudly) that it had to happen while he was asleep (I hope you are ready for some grumbling from him.) Once again it was enchanting to see the genuine love and concern that all the friends display. (Legolas not wanting Hamille to hurt Gimili & the hobbits insisting on staying with Aragorn) Now onto the other mysteries in the story....

Yanks did just celebrate Thanskgiving - but I ain't no yank. :-) In any case, Halloween is coming up, lol.

Yup, Gimli is going to be one angry dwarf - I already know one complaint he's going to make. :-)

Thanks for continuing to walk with me.

This note will be identical for all who have reviewed so far *sheepish grin*:

I just noticed that the formatting of the chapter had been all sc****d up *mutter grumble* - Aragorn's dream sequence is in italics, everything else is not. Ah well.. hope you weren't too confused.

How could there be any more bad news? They didn't expect what happened next? Well, we didn't either. Poor Gimli will be horrified when he learns what happened. Who is the old one? Legolas? Sword and bow and helm? Is that Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli? Of course they would want the same ones to come back that missed them before. I can't wait to see what more surprises you have in store for our friends.

Disturbing news? What news? Wait! You can't stop here, I want to know more! *tears hair*

*takes a deep breath* I'm quite glad Aragorn awoke at all - for a moment I thought they would drag him along in some kind of shadow realm... Very interesting. I really want to know who the Forgotten Ones are now. It seems Aragorn will have to return to the Path of the Dead, which is fine with me... more nice tasty angst to come, lol! It was so sweet how his friends were all around him when he awoke, and how Legolas kept calling him back. *purrs* (Who wouldn't wake up when called by *that* elf?! ;-)

The "possessed dwarf" was creepy - I guess Gimli will have a lot to say to that when he has recovered. :D I loved it how the ghosts vanished with the first cry of the rooster - just like in the old tales. *contented sigh* Hm, lots of more questions... Who is the Old One? What spell? What are the disturbing news? *is all ears* I loved that chapter *huggles chapter* and am waiting for the next one! :) :) :)

Invisible Tinu (invisible because I'm not here, I'm supposed to be working, lol!)

I know... I would gladly go into a nightmare if it meant *that* elf calling me back. :-) And to have him sing to me... sigh...

Yeap - Gimli will have something to say when he regains consciousness.

Hope you're doing well, sweetie - thanks for dropping in. :-)
