The Last Traces  by Shieldmaiden of Rohan 5 Review(s)

A very good gapfiller!

I love the easy, natural interaction between brother and sister. Éowyn as so obviously in love with her husband-to-be was delightful, and I liked Éomer's thoughts about Faramir.

I myself stood by as his body was burned, as did Pippin, and I can assure you that he will not return to trouble you again.

This sentence was very meaningful, I thought. As if they needed the extra assurance, to know exactly that they were really dead. And Merry was so thoughtful to provide it.

Wonderful reassurance for both.

Love the hint of the fight over the pen. Beloved Hobbits....

This is good! What a plausible and logical idea, that Merry would naturally write to Rohan with new of Wormtongue's death! I like the introspective moments, especially as Eomer ponders on the effect Wormtongue had on Eowyn, and on his respect for Faramir, as he realizes that he, too, would like a piece of that slime.

Wonderful look at Eowyn and Eomer's relationship! They are both splendid characters, you handled Eowyn's news about Wormtongue very well. I hadn't ever thought that she might still be haunted by him, or that Eomer would have issued an order like that concerning him but it makes since.

Also the glimpse into the hobbits writing the letter was great, that also showed a wonderful relationship. Well done, it was wonderfully written, it is nice to see everyone's lives becoming better after the War!

This is a very nice gapfiller! I never thought about how Eowyn might learn of Grima`s death but a letter from Merry seems just perfect for doing so. :)
