Always a bad question that - things can always get worse!!
Forgot how much I enjoyed your take on the twins - forgive my tardiness in reviewing

Author Reply: Sometimes clichéd lines like that are the best ones to use. It was immediately apparent to everyone that his life would get worse!

Late reviews are good - they're like an unexpected gift.

I just got back into town and was happy to find a new story, Jay. Poor Elrohir. I can see how maddening the situation would be.

Author Reply: I feel sorry for the twins at times. They've never doubted they love one another, but they must yearn to be individuals as well - and to be seen by others as such.

That was not very nice of Elladan. I can understand so well Elrohir is angry at him! To have an identical twin can be a lot of fun with all the pranks which are possible against all people who aren't able to tell them apart. But sometimes it is quite the opposite. It is a shame Glorfindel didn't see Elladan had tricked him!

Author Reply: Elrohir gets frustrated that people can't see that beneath the surface they're different. They just see the identical appearance. It must be worse when it's people (like Glorfindel) who should be able to tell the difference.

'How could his life possibly get any worse?

If ever there was a remark more likely to presage his life getting a good deal worse, I can't imagine what it might be!

Poor Elrohir.

Author Reply: You think that line was a giveaway?? You could be right ;)

Poor Elrohir is due for an unpleasant shock soon.

Ah, this is a nice one... Poor Elrohir I feel sorry for him. His brother is not on his good side and I don't blame him, people never knowing who is who and he really liked that girl...
Love to hear more, please continue

Author Reply: It must be annoying to be constantly mistaken for someone else. Poor Elrohir - and Elladan - hate it!

Heh heh, the problems of having a walking, talking mirror image is a pain in the arse. I am looking forward to reading the next chapter, so please post it soon. I can simpathise with Elrohir - though I don't have a twin I do have a sister who looked just like me up until she cut her hair and I dyed mine! It was really annoying when I would get scoulded by teachers and other members of family (excluding parents and other siblings) for something she did. Poor El, I want to see some revenge for this! I trust Elrohir will be getting it. Keep on typing the honey. Toodles and ta me darlin'.

Author Reply: Most of this isn't really Elladan's fault - he's just as annoyed to be constantly mistaken for his brother as Elrohir is. They love one another, but sometimes wish they didn't look quite so alike!

There is a solution, but the twins won't like it.

Hehe. I think being a twin would have its moments and depending on your mood and POV, they might be good or bad. I remember it saying somewhere in the books that only Elrond and Celebrian could consistantly tell them apart, so there is a lot of potential for trouble. Confusion over work and ladies'attentions are the two areas that come to mind first for me, so I was amused by how this story started out.

“Do not worry – Elrohir will not be doing it, you can be certain of that!” Elrohir responded a little sourly.

*Snort* That was funny (pretty much any line in this I could have quoted because they are all funny) but it must have been confusing for you to write this and get things like "Elrohir won't..." Elrohir said. typed correctly. I mean, when I type anything about the twins, I am always checking to make sure I have the right twin talking. To intentionally do something like this would drive me nuts. :-)

This has a lot of potential for fun! Glad to see you start a new one so soon.

Author Reply: I know that Tolkien said 'few could tell them apart,' - and that's what I'm playing on here. It must be incredibly annoying to be constantly mistaken for someone else, and poor Elrohir's at the end of his tether. Don't worry, things will get worse before they get better!

Yes, it was rather confusing to write - it took a lot of careful checking to be sure I had the right twin in each sentence.

Oh, poor Elrohir. Today is just not his day, it seems. I have a feeling he'll be pathetically grateful for having Arwen around before this story is out. I'm glad to see Arwen in this story. She's kind of grown on me as a character, and I like the way you write her -- very practical, and a sweet young thing.

The twins must be very identical if people they've known since the birth canal have trouble telling them apart. Sometimes it's strange with identical twins. Once, I was working as a receptionist, and this vaguely familiar-looking guy walked into the office and asked me to summon his brother, then hung around looking expectant. I asked him to tell me who his brother was. He looked shocked, gave the guy's name, and said, "We're twins."

The brother turned up, and they were indeed identical twins. I'm still puzzled as to why I was so clueless upon seeing the twin of a guy I worked with. You'd think I'd recognize the face, or even the family resemblance, but no.

Author Reply: Grateful to Arwen? Well, no - not the way I have this story planned out. You'll soon see why!

Glorfindel rarely confuses E&E. On this occasion, he was expecting Elrohir, so that's who he saw. Elladan just took advantage of the slip!

Our vicar has identical twin daughters. He was telling me once than he'd been talking to daughter A for about ten minutes, when she told him indignantly, "Dad, I'm Victoria, not Alice!" Another twin I used to work with once forgot her sister's birthday ...

Thanks for the review!
