| Ouch! The ex and her family in one visit? Poor Pippin. This is far too much for him to deal with in one throw. I do hope that someone comes to his rescue on this one and takes charge of visiting with Sapphira's family. I am glad that he was able to get away long enough to see his father. Maybe that will help. Too bad that Merry and Estella weren't coming back to the Great Smials too. I believe Pippin could use some support about now. | |

| *sigh* Poor Pip. Of course all of us knew this was coming, and couldn't do anything about it. LOL! It reminds me of the way my old granny used to watch soap operas, and she would talk to the characters, telling them "Now don't you listen to her!" and so forth. I *so* wanted to just grab Pip and warn him--but if he wouldn't listen to Merry he certainly wouldn't listen to me!! But Diamond is there now, and will be able to soothe poor Pip's broken heart--though I imagine he *will* be trying to guard the poor wounded thing himself for just a little while after this, especially from any North-took lasses. Author Reply: LOL! Your granny sounds terrific! You're right--Pippin is so Hades-bent on finding his special lass that he just would not heed any sound advice that even Merry had to offer. Grab him? Hehehe...you and me both, but my muse keeps telling me to write these things. I imagine Pippin is going to be licking his wounds for a wee bit, but not for too long; after all, he *is* our beloved Pip. Just be prepared--JRRT has Diamond being born 1395, although he didn't say exactly when. LOL, I keep remembering your first review, saying I go about things sideways--(and I'm snickering as I say this because its true!) Be prepared for her to be a tad on the innocent side, because I have her being a Yule baby. | That was a sad chapter. Poor Pippin. He is so sweet, and gives his heart so quickly and completely. You're right,though, that is what makes him so indearing. He wouldn't be the hobbit we all love if he guarded his heart. Now I'm looking forward to seeing his first real meeting with Diamond. I know they exchanged a look, but he doesn't even know which one she is. I hope Sapphira is happy in her choice. We females can be so fickle, and it seems we are often quick to change relationships, and we often hurt the males we love, all unwittingly. I had a teacher in high school who read us the riot act on this point. She told us we were cruel to the boys by throwing them over at the drop of a hat. Then, many times we would ask that same boy to take us back, and the poor sucker would. I was never sure who's fault those weird reltationships were, but this teacher laid it squarely at the feet of the girls. At least I don't think Sapphira is going to get a chance to leave her original betroathed a second time. Thanks for the update. Connie B. | All too often the road of love is sown with thorns, and it appears poor Pippin has done nothing but ensnare himself in them for quite some time. Alas, Pippin--but do take a small look at the sister who sees your pain.
