| Oh my, a hobbit, a dwarf and a man in a dark hole fighting each other, not knowing, what the enemy looks like and if there really is an enemy? That's priceless!!! I've absolutely no idea about the outcome. Well chosen title. I come from Germany, so of course I know about Lorelei. Though, I've never before imagined her as a lovely dwarven maid ;-) I'm absolutely aware, that this is AU, but I would really like to know where Frodo, Sam and Pippin are - the location in the Shire, I mean. They cannot be at Bag End, otherwise they would have met Gimli. So, where are they: Buckland, Tookland? I'm looking forward to more! Author Reply: I don't have a map of the Shire, but they're probably in Buckland; and I took some liberites with the Lorelei. I decided that she could probably make her listeners see whatver she wanted them to; thus to GImli she is dwarven, to Aragorn like Arwen, and to the hobbits like a hobbit. | This is an interesting idea, and I'm curious to see where you take it. Certainly I would love to see how the members of the Fellowship interact, before there is a Fellowship. I don't know if you're planning to make this AU, or to stick to canon. If the latter, you'll have to be careful on a couple of points. One is that Legolas makes it clear in ROTK that prior to the encounter at Pelennor fields, he had never seen the sea, nor heard a seagull. So you'll want to be careful that he doesn't actually accompany his mother all the way to the Havens, unless you decide to make the story AU. Also, I'm a little unclear on the timing of this story -- is Frodo still at Buckland at this time? In any case it was implied at the Council of Elrond that he had not seen Legolas, at least, before - or so I interpret from his description of "a strange Elf clad in green and brown." That's a little more open to interpretation, but also a factor to consider if you have Frodo meeting the other members of the Fellowship. This is a good beginning. I'm looking forward to more. | Wow. This is a great story! I really like the idea that Legolas and Gimli are friends before FOTR. I hope u update really soon, I can't wait to see how poor Merry takes to finding an elf and a dwarf on his midnight walk, this should be interesting to see how he reacts and how they get along.
