Celebrian, Sell i Nos Galadhad   by Redheredh 2 Review(s)
BodkinReviewed Chapter: 17 on 2/8/2007
I confess I blinked when Celeborn turned from elegant, lordly friend to intimidating, offended lord! (These are very scary people - puissant seems a very good word to describe them. And Celeborn and Galadriel are well-matched - I'm not surprised Laerlinath is nervous at the idea of being too close to her!)

The arrival of Celebrimbor is a decided relief. (Not often that is said about Celebrimbor!) And Hrassa snaps back into old friend and welcome guest.

I'm coming to like Laerlinath - give her a few more centuries and she'll definitely be a player. She's still a bit out of her depth - but her swimming skills are improving rapidly.

And Hrassa will be going to that tea party! There are powers greater than his will involved in this - and he will be sitting with Celebrian's dolls and sipping noxious fluids from tiny cups before he has time to run!

Well, Gimli and Aragorn show that there is a softer side to Galadriel, too. ;) I'm sure Laerlinath will catch on to the Lady's moods like everyone else. And like Hrassa, she'll know when she's crossed a line ... eh, or maybe not until its too late...

"(Not often that is said about Celebrimbor!)" You're right! I had not thought about it that way! And Hrassa knows that he just has to admit his mistakes and he will be forgiven. You would think.

Laerlinath is not stupid, by any means, but she was raised Noldor. In many ways, that puts her at a disadvantage dealing with Nos Galadhad. For circumstances aren't always what she would expect. However, she is a trooper where her and Aurthon's budding family fortunes are concerned.

Oh, we know he does! More than once! Hehe! But, Celebrian learned to brew choice teas from her father remember. No one's gonna croak on it. Unless she starts experimenting...

My thanks for reading and reviewing!

I was wondering about you jsut yesterday! Iīm so glad this was about to come out and I did not know!

I am impressed by the first scene. Celebornīs change was stning and perfectly done, a blizzard indeed, that was a masterfully chosen image! And I also loved his sense of opportunity, for he had been waiting patiently for the chance to show up to clearly state the level of his disappointment with Hrassa in a wonderful display of the efficiency of "show versus tell" NO wonder that Hrassa was stunned. I was as well, bowing at Celebornīs (your)smartness and a bit intimidated by the forceful way in which he expressed himself. Bravo!

I also enjoyed very much Laerlinath's pov. She appears now as an intteligent, discerning woman, a good match for Aurthon indeed. And no wonder that Hrassa was so relieved and happy to see Celebrimbor after the cold shower received from Celeborn. I suppose that Celeborn was just making his point, since they are joking and toasting together again in no time, the Lord again turned summer, so I also like the depth of understanding between them that those reactions show.

I am really loving the subtle intricacies and winks of this tale, and now I am more than looking forward towards the meeting with Galadriel! I will wait patiently, I swear!

Author Reply: Are you saying you like surprises? :) So do I - very glad to see your post too!

Opportunity is a keyword with Celeborn. But, I really think he did not want to have to do any more than let Elrovail remind Hrassa to behave and was angry about that as well. He was certainly harsher on Hrassa than he was with Celebrian in the jail. But, correction made, life goes on; no need to dwell over it overlong.

I thought it was about time to get into her point of view. She is sooo Noldor. Celebrimbor is a chance to let go of the unpleasantness at hand.

Oh dear, I am afraid that you will have to be patient. Very patient...

Thank you so much for reading and reviewing!
