| I was holding my breath for the whole chapter! and did not notice until I reached the end... The conversation along the dark narrow passage was terrific! Celeborn's worries for his child are understandable and amusing. THe seriousness of the subjects under the apparent light bantering is greatly done, Redheredh, and the description of the passage and the way Hrassa is preceiving his surroundings through his other senses is simply perfect. Loved that. My lady’s wardrobe has ever included a mantle of piety which I have borrowed for our daughter’s sake I laughed at this! There's so much implication in all the conversation, but this I find so subtly put! So we have a truly Eldar who grew up among the powers, married to an elf who, despite having lived by one of the minor powers is... less than awed by them...lovely! I also like the implications about Celeborn's behaviour when he was lord of Harlindon... and far more courageous than undertaking an exodus in protest. LOL! Of course that was!!! This ever ready Celeborn reminds me of someone, yet I cannot tell whom...but I loved that slogan... I bleive it suits him oerfect, as it does this self effacing attitude. A great, great lord indeed. I'm loving this look at politics in ERegion! And, let me tell you, I for one, don't mind that it takes you so long to post, when the result are these great, deeply layered and wonderfully descriptive chapters . I wouldn't be able to produce such a thing, were I given a whole year and writing in my mother language! So go you! take your time and let us know what happened with Galadriel! :-) Author Reply: You are just too kind! I am very glad you found this chapter worth raading. ;) less than awed by them Yep, and the Valar really haven't paid much attention to the Lindar. Galadriel would behave with a little more respect towards them though. But, bad-language is bad-language and childres should be protected from questionable extremes until they have learned a little judgement in such matters. There are princes and prince-consorts who have influenced history from behind the throne and are not acknowledged in mainstream history. You have to go back to what their contemporaries said about them and piece together the accomplishments that has been shelved in favor of more popular figures. I really appreciate your experience with the wheels of government and being able to see the movement and not just the grinding. Thank you so much for saying all that! Aurthon and Laerlinath conclude matters with Mirathel next chapter, sorry to say. But, Hrassa will eventually have a talk with Galadriel. Thanks again for the encouragement! | |

| I do like Hrassa and Celeborn. They're being all comradely and long-lost-friends-ish on the surface, but they're still dancing round each other trying to decide why they're behaving exactly as they are - and Hrassa is very wary of Celeborn's schemes. (Rightly, I suspect.) The picture of Celeborn encouraging the common perception of him as an attractive accessory to the Lady - much like a handbag - is delightful. Especially since all know it to be a complete illusion, perpetrated to pull the wool over other eyes. I like him being protective of his wife and daughter. And the child already sneaks off does she? I wonder what Celeborn could do about that? Galadriel as an uneasy gambler - well, motherhood does that to you. Nesting and protecting - security suddenly becomes a whole lot more important than in your wild youth. Doing one’s duty must be a choice huh? Why do I get the feeling that Celeborn is being very clever and manipulative? I don't think Hrassa stands much of a chance of escaping without doing what his friend and lord wants him to do. But then the cleverest thing of all is that he won't want to! Do we get to see Hrassa with Galadriel? I would love to see how they interact. This is a fascinating story and I just love Hrassa - (of course, loving Celeborn goes without saying) - and want to know more. Author Reply: I'm very glad you like their relationship. They are like friends from the old neighborhood who have lost touch with each other and then unexpectantly met-up. Both know the other person, but not necessarily who they have become. Hrassa might yearn to be part of world-changing events again, but he has to be asking himself once again if he is up to compromising his honesty? *g* An inconsequential aura certainly allows Celeborn a lot more freedaom of movement. And has the extra bonus of helping people underestimate him. E2L can understant that benefit. ;) Well, protection is his thing, after all. Galadriel should trust his security-skills. And he was right on Celebrian's tail, now wasn't he? But, you are right about how parenthood can effect you. I think Celeborn believes and practices what he says. If one is not given the choice to make the commitment, the duty it entails becomes onerous and fosters shoddy execution. But of course, the motivation to make the commitment can be very complex and personal. Do we get to see Hrassa with Galadriel? Heh! Is this what I get for harassing you about Oropher? Yes, they will talk...just not in the next chapter...maybe couple of chapters. *sorry* But, I am so glad you do find this fascinating. Which encourages me to continue - so thank you very much! | |
