OH WOW SONGSPINNER! I had to read the first 3 again to remember this and I'm so glad I did! I LOVE this story and I'm so glad you've added more!

The brothership is still strong and I love how you've shown so well how men care for each other. awesome, awesome job, my dear. now bring on the rest! :D

Author Reply: Thank you so very much! I'll get the rest as soon as I can (the last few weeks of teaching 5th grade for the year are a bit hectic...). There should be two more parts, I believe. Glad it's working so well.

Author Reply: *giggle* I should really stop reading these during breaks in my classroom...my students are wondering why I get hysterical over at my computer occasionally.
Thank you...I'm glad you liked it. And yes, I just had to put the twins in. There is mention in the book of how fierce they were in battle and all, but one assumes that they were trained as healers by their father.

Like all your stories, this one seems pitch perfect in characterizing Legolas, Aragorn, Gimli, et al. I agree with Lamiel about the reunion scence - it was sadly missing from the movie. Thanks and I look forward to another update -- soon I hope.

Author Reply: "Pitch perfect"? Why, thank you, says the musician. :)
It is a wonderful thing to hear, that the characterization was good.

I just saw these and read them all. I really like your portrayal of Eomer, Legolas and Aragorn and their experiences after the battles, helping each other. I especially liked the last one with the Fellowship searching each other out after the battle. I really wished the films had shown a few of these moments (I liked the reunion around Frodo's bed but I would have liked to see Aragorn and Legolas and Eomer--and the twins, who were completely ignored--regroup). Nice job with these. I hope there are more. I'll be looking for them.

Author Reply: Thanks! Glad that I could fill in those little bits that were missing. There will be two more, I believe. Soon, really...

Thank you for the reunion scene between Legolas and Aragorn! That was one of the things that bothered me most about the film: Legolas' desperate struggle to reach Aragorn was never really acknowledged or given resolution. This scene is exactly what I wanted and didn't get from the movie.

I'm glad that you're continuing this story.

Author Reply: Wow! Many thanks...that bugged me as well, actually. It was such a wonderful bit of characterization (that made me cringe when people said Legolas didn't show much emotion in the films - had they _noticed_ that set of shots?) that I was waiting for a resolution as well. Just a look of relief would have done it for me, even. Anyhow, it's continuing. Probably somewhat faster as I finish teaching for the school year. :)

I do like this. There is nothing like shared experience of battle for building bonds that can never be broken.

Author Reply: Thank you...and yes, definitely. It's mentioned in the books that Eomer and Aragorn were extremely close after the war, and supported each other in battle and as friends. Certainly nice to hear, but a bit annoying that you don't see much of the buildup to that.

I love this, Songspinner! I like the 'brothership' you've brought out in this foursome. I especially like the interaction between Legolas and Eomer; it's not something you usually see. I can't wait for the last chapter! :)

Meckinock mentioned this story to me and suggested I read it. I'm glad she did. I've truly enjoyed it. You've done a wonderful job of capturing the emotions, exhaustion, sorrow, and the cautious hope of this tale. Your characterizations are full and rich--mature people doing an incredibly hard job while lending strength to one another when so little seemed to be left. I'm looking forward to your next and final(?) chapter. Beautifully done, Songspinner.

Author Reply: Many thanks! What wonderful compliments...I'm so glad that the characterizations were full enough, and that the emotions came through so clearly. Next bit coming soon, at least as soon as I finish grading these papers... :)

I am really enjoying this story so far. Your characters are very real and likable and are seen from an angle that is very refreshing. Looking forward to more of this story.

Author Reply: Thank you! I'm relieved to hear that the characters seem real - that's always one of my biggest worries. The books contain so many hints about the friendships that grew between these characters, and I just thought it would be a challenge to write some of those moments that led to that.

Author Reply: Giggle...I have to stop reading your reviews during my lunch break. One of my 11 year old students came in to see why I was cracking up...Thank you! Yeah, I wish there was more of that in the films; Tolkien said so many little things about the friendships between Aragorn and Eomer and Legolas that developed after the War. It's fun to picture how those developed.
