| The "heir business" from the other perspective... I really like how you make a connection between those pairs of cousins, and I think Frodo is very good at handling Merry's grief. | I was looking through your story list for young Frodo and Merry fics and this caught my eye... This is so endearing, Lin, without being cloying…always something I appreciate in stories of hobbit children! There are some strikingly similiar scenes in later chapters of my WIP. I especially liked this glimpse of a young child’s fears and limited understanding: …death had looked just like sleep... he'd not gone to sleep, the first time he'd seen death. This is just how a child thinks; I remember for a long time one of my sons had a huge fear of being buried alive. Well done as usual! Author Reply: Well, then, I look forward to reading your WIP! | How cute! I'd never really stopped to consider that Frodo and Merry were close before he moved to Hobbiton. Your descriptions are really nice, and for the most part you capture hobbit innocence nicely. ^_^ | |
